shami is inconsistent and leaks runs and mostly takes soft wickets. He is never going to be an X-factor. It's like saying danish kaneria was the X-factor of pakistani team.

It was bumrah's two wickets in the middle that saved India. that's why bumrah was awarded man of the match. I think this should settle it.

Bumrah took wickets to break the partnership. Otherwise afg would have won easily. There would have been no need of nabi to even come to bat.

I am not sure what you are talking about. He is not even my favorite player of your team. My favorites are Kohli, Rohit, and Dhoni. None of these cricketers represent my belief. All I am trying to do is justify my opinion on why I think Shami was the X factor that was missing in the Semi final. Hate him or love him he knows how to take wickets.

whatever the reason, but India won because of bumrah and not shami. Any decent bowler can defend 15 odd runs in last over and that too against a team like afg. So u want to say people who bumrah man of the match were wrong?

Most of the bad results have got to with the selectors not making hard but practical and intelligent choices. A captain who has **** for brains and hasn't even won a single IPL Cup to begin with and a drunkard yes man coach.

 

But Importantly A sad truth is,

 

I have to say some credit to this failure has got to do with the emotional immaturity of our Indian fans who can't seem to get the simple truth that their favorite stars are not that good anymore. You know who I'm talking about. The Holier than cow status accorded to Dhoni is the reason of the middle order failure. The whole team had to find stop gap/applying band aid to fracture solutions to keep this old man relevant in the team. It's a shame that he hasn't yet retired from the team.

If the board is really serious about structural changes then here are some for you

 

1) Get dhoni to announce retirement.

2) Sack shashtri as coach.

3) Give white ball captaincy to Rohit

4) Bring all the youngsters in the middle order.

5) Back the youngsters for a period of atleast 20 games irrespective of results.

There are more but this is a start.

Obvious change pant for dhoni. Let’s see if pant has the batting skills required of a finisher.

 

As for opening dhawan would’ve struggled too yesterday against the moving ball, NZ bowlers were impeccable, so it’s not like we would’ve won if he were there. Rahul played a rash stroke no doubt, but he should be persisted with for another 6 months. WI tour will be a good place to get his confidence back. After all he was the best batting talent just two years back in the opening slot.
