This ashes series is about who is the worst captain - Root or Paine. Never seen an Australian captain who bowls first after winning a toss. Paine needs to be sacked and Smith should be reinstated as captain of Australia.

I think it's apparent Langer is pulling the strings in Australian setup, Paine is just a puppet.

But it won't be exactly a proud moment for them , if they lose this test.  Resulting in a tied series (which looks very likely)

 

Aussies have not won an ashes series in England for decades. whereas England have won ashes series in Australia in 2011.

This victory will do more harm to England than good..On paper series will be levelled and urn will be retained by Aussies but they are nowhere equal to Aussie team..Their batting unit is totally incompetent, Bairstow even after playing 60+ test matches was crying to play only as Wicket keeper batsman during SL tour and not as Specialist batsman.Buttler should not be picked as specialist batsman.They dont have decent spinner and their best batsman cant convert 50s into big scores.Denly is aged, Project Roy was disaster which will affect his ODI form, too(Hope not).

Lyon has been very ordinary bar the second innings of T1 where Poms imploded chasing a gigantic target....one of the main reasons Aussies won't win this Ashes. Convinced we have made him look a lot better than he is, just like Moeen and Chase, we suck against traditional offies who bowl in the good length area on fifth/sixth stump line. He is still good but boy do we make him look deadlier than Murali. Also no other spinner I know gets so many soft wickets like him, so many get caught in the deep trying ugly hoicks .
