Pollack
Pant is good. He will eventually. Fans are so fickle. He would do good as an opener batsman but unfortunately we have many openers. I know many would not agree but even Rahul should have been given more chances at no 4 in ODIs. Shreyas mad Rahul both should be looked in for the jinxed position. Ankit_sharma03 1 Link to comment
putrevus
Pant is ok, he needs to clam down little bit may moving to No5 is not a bad option for him. Link to comment
Straight Drive
10 dot balls in succession is too many. Hope this was a rare case. Link to comment
Ankit_sharma03
Pant needs to be just left alone by fans n media.......pant like pandya is the kind of talent who will get praise one day n bashing another day. Such talents has always bought in frustation among fans - remeber rohit, sehwag n yuvraj early days. He shud be left alone and given long rope. He like everyone will eventually learn and wud prove to be India's greates match winner but to enjoy that time n patience is needed Mosher 1 Link to comment

For tests. don't care about dot balls as long as he sticks around. Rotating the strike is something is not as easy as we think. Laxman, Rahane failed in one dayers precisely because of this inability. You can see defensive players playing aggressively. But it is rare a batsman suddenly becoming a great strie rotator. He has a place in the side. But not a no.4 batsman. Iyer illustrated how you should tap the ball straight down and keep taking singles. Link to comment
vaul
Pant never learned strike rotation in domestic cricket. How can he implement the skill in international cricket ? His strike rate in domestic is above 110 while average around 30.He has played like t20 in 50 over games in domestic.Reasons behind his inability to rotate the strike are following: 1. Limited ability to play with straight bat.He hardly plays with straight bat to long on/off positions. 2. Lacks supple wrists to manipulate gaps on the on-side,rather he tries to hit the ball hard most of times. 3. Limited ability to play on back foot, especially late with soft hands. Link to comment

When rohit came his strike rotation wasnt also good but it improved yet he still relies on his power game Iyer is far more experienced n lacks the shots ranges which pant has so players like iyer has to adopt other methods as well . Pant joirney is diff then iyer. Pant will have similar journey to rohit, yuvraj coz he has same talent n issues Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
I hope the TM backs him for Tests. A guy averaging nearly 50 in last 12 months with almost 5 dismissals per match does not deserve to be dropped unless he fails in back to back series, beetle 1 Link to comment
kubrickian
I think he will do fine in tests unless there's a lot of swing on offer but then again, even most regular batsmen struggle in those conditions. Link to comment

Pant lacks balance to be a consistent big hitter too. IF there is one guy he should try to emulate that would be Raina , who at his best had the ability to play the ball through different areas without too much pre-meditation. Link to comment

Pant looses body balance is fine....he looses it at times due to various reason when he tries to go to hard- rohit never needs to he is more of timer......yuvraj was combo of power n timing so even he didnt need totry to hard t20 leads to innovation which didnt happen in early stages for yuvraj n rohit sharma Comparing them Pant is very good player of spin, yuvraj was **** against spin at start of his career Rohit never got going, pant already has 2 overseas 100s Raina was also found out in intial part of his career overseas under dravid chappell only, he came back under dhoni. Pant at start of his career has been superior to all yuvi, rohit, raina Link to comment
