sandeep Posted September 26, 2019 Author Posted September 26, 2019 I love this guy. So erudite, so stable, India is lucky to have a guy like this as Foreign minister.
Temp1234 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) Very eloquent and analytical... He has put-forth India's views to a lot of think tank guys in the audience influencing policy decisions in US/Europe much better than Modi Edited September 26, 2019 by Temp1234

coffee_rules Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Wish we had found competant ppl like him for finance. NS is weak, BJP has old ppl, should have developed home grown economists. Peshust 1

But he had his political leanings were not in sync. Every government needs to have its own team, back in 2004, every top person in every Dept was replaced. BJP tried to work with Rajan. I am referring to FM, not RBI anyway.

He's an economist and was proficient at his job. He disagreed with demonetization, and it turns out he was right. His disagreement and refusal to cede the independence of RBI to the Modi administration is why he ended up being ousted. Not his "political leanings". It is not good to reflexively defend all actions of the party or politician you support. It is a slippery slope that leads to positions and actions that you will end up regretting. retired_hurt and Bigg Brother 2

maniac Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) @sandeep what's so funny? You know just because you study economics as an MBA in one of your semsters doesn't make you an Economist right? I mean even Engineering students have accounts in one of the semesters. For your benefit In general, the focus of economics more big picture in nature, such as how a country, region, or market is performing. Economics also focuses on public policy, while the focus of finance is more company- or industry-specific. Finance also focuses on how companies and investors evaluate risk and return. Rajan->Chiddu's man End of UPA-II just before exiting (transition) ...80:20 gold scheme Nirav Modi, Choksi google, connect the dots. RR ain't no angel. Shaktikanta Das didn't deserve RBI top spot....blunder. Urijit resigned, govt must answer. Point is RBI must be independent and not happening either under Modi or UPA, Rajan wasn't without his biases/faults. Forget individuals, set right the institutions.
Gollum Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) Jaishankar is a find, unorthodox but bold decision by Modi. Hardeep Puri is another sharp guy. Clown Kohli can learn from Modi, great leaders shouldn't be averse to risk taking and certainly shouldn't be afraid to look at options beyond their coterie of followers. Hope the NS move works as well, Jai Italy left behind a mess and global wind is blowing in the wrong direction, should give her some time. Edited September 26, 2019 by Gollum raki05 1
