Agree.   My point was mainly about cricketers of this generation (post 2010). Once the concept of PP and DRS were introduced.

No doubt. Post 2010 the ones which come to mind are Stuart Binny, Patidar, KS Bharat, there was one spinner from J&K (quota pick), Avesh Khan. KL is debatable but he definitely doesn't deserve such a long rope he has gotten. He shouldn't be in the team ahead of Pant.

Dube took down the best bowlers on the day of the opp. in SF and F<-- really a big thing.

vs Neesham-- 24 on 6 balls

VS Adil --22 on 8 balls

And much needed 27 on 16 balls in the F vs SF in 2024 wc

A true big match player!

@maniac, I implore you to open similar threads for the following before the 2027 WC as you have the reverse midas touch

Jaiswal

Gill (coz he's not going anywhere)

Rohit (he's gonna be there for the WC)

Kohli (same as Rohit)

KL Rahul

Iyer

Pandya

Axar

Jadeja (in case selectors decide to go with him just like Kohli and Rohit )

Bumrah

Harshit Rana

Siraj (hope he isn't in ODI team but just in case)

Arshdeep

Kuldeep

Varun

Samson (in case he's the wk picked in place of KL)

Pant (to be on the safer side)

Sai Sudarshan (if he makes it to the squad)

Tilak Varma (if he gets the ODI callup)

Dube is polar opposite of Jadeja - his actions and results are much better than his perception. Jadeja OTOH is supposed to be the "rock star" and a hitter down the order and has yet to win even one single game with the bat at intl level across nearly 2 decades!

You need proper power hitters to be finisher playing in last few over, not having proper power game and not able to access both off and leg-side is not a formula for finisher.

Ind started winning Odis consistently due to the reason they had Dhoni , yuvi and raina to finish off the game. All had power. Thats where Ind became a team better team than rest of sc team having more power in the line-up down the order, only Aus and SA had more power.

And started doing bad once the power was gone with Yuvi out of the team, dhoni being worked out and raina not able to fill the shoes of yuvi and then Ind went on to batters who can hardly hit at the last few overs.

Is Dube a v.good batter no, can a good bowling line-up get him sure, but in t20 he has to play like 15 balls he has the power game to hit few of them for 6s and then he is a constant threat to spinner which makes opp. to bring their pacers on when he is on strike, which he has found a way to manage to and has a team to workaround that weakness where his strengths can be maximized and weaknesses can be minimized.

PPl were asking to drop him for Rinku from wc-15, ppl think rinku is a finisher. no he is not you need brute power to be a finisher. Rinku was the anchor in-case Ind loses it wheels in case of mini collapse he had a role in the side but nt finisher if everything right and he gets to bat his job was to swing the bat but his exact role was when Ind has mini-collapse.

For upcoming Odi wc too Ind need a finisher but you need some1 with better batsmanship.

Dube can add a yard of pace also to his bowling. With his height easily doable.

Even if he doesn't do that but can bowl tight line & length on off that would be good. If the pitch has something in it for seamers that would be good enough for him. He has Philander level pace and look how successful he was. Main thing is control for him as adding a yard or two won't make much of a difference for him but adding that control will.

They messed up his bowling by asking him to bowl wide lines. He is a much better bowler than going for 12 n over consistently

Yes - I remember WC 2023 when Rohit was coaching Siraj literally every ball in the NZ semifinal and confusing him so much that the poor guy literally forgot how to bowl.

TBF to Rohit, you don't need much to unsettle Siraj :phehe:
