You are completely wrong. The recent elections shows those caste leaders are always in the game, unless it's a wave election. And Sonia is a better manager than Rahul as she allows the caste leaders to do their business whereas Rahul relies on his foreign based consultants.

On BJP, the harsh reality is, it needs high voter turnout otherwise it's always a uphill battle. All this 370, Ram Mandir may increase approval rates, morale yet BJP supporters simply don't go out to vote in large numbers....

OKm fair enough, This is what all MSM are celebrating when LJD and JDU won in 2017. Jaat hain to jahaan hain. The Pidis were pushing for MGB based on caste lines, wanted INC to have seat sharing in UP. But, it works in assembly elections only, I guess. BJP is yet to master the caste politics like the other parties.

Disagree. SS blackmailed BJP in LS 2019, and got a great share of seats. More than they deserved. They tried it again in state election 2019, yet BJP obliged to their unfair ratio of seats. Yet, they tried a 3rd time blackmail but they this time, took it too far with the foolish CM demand. It's a total of 3 times, and so it's not a new issue. It's SS own making and they were greedy and ultimately, BJP gave them a firm NO to their demand.

So why do allies who contest with bjp have such an abysmal strike rate.

Sena contested as many seats in 2014 for ls as they did in 2019 as they did in 2009. Bjp has always contested more than sena in ls as per 1990 agreement. This was never a blackmail issue.

This was clear blackmail. If seats won would have been 85-75 then there was some weightage in their demand , but with 56-105 it more look like zid than fair demand.

its the day Sena died...

See bargaining with BJP is one thing. Joining Congress which you have a huge clash in ideology is another.

Both Sena and Congress will face backlash in places like Marathwada.

Shiv Sena was created with help of Congress to check the communists , they only found the love for hindutva in 80s when communists were very much declined. So you can say they are back to from where they started.

A good read on Shiv Sena history

Created is a strong word. More a case of looked the other way. This article is way off the mark.

Their core vote in mumbai was textile workers who lived in the chawls. These workers went jobless in the 1970s as textile mills moved inland. What this article does not highlight is that the sena at a cadre level was always heavily hindu. For eg they raised money through pandals during datta jayanti and ganapati as a means to counter the godless communists.

It also glosses over the hindu muslim bhiwandi riots of 1970 which were lead by the sena. They were so severe that indira Gandhi game to visit. Entire watermelon fields were torched. If thet were not hindutva in nature why would this be the case?

The history of the sena in the mumbai konkan belt can be classified by the 1970, 1984 and 1992 riots.

While mumbai maybe the bank of the sena its soul and muscle rests in thane district and konkan. This has fudge all to do with businessman. Its exactly why this article is poor. It views sena through the lens of just mumbai. Even during the mumbai riots it was the thane and raigad youth who came in their truckloads who fought on the frontlines.

Yesterday some channels were highlighting that Shiv Sena supported Emergency and then Congress in 1980 Elections so I guess they earlier too allied with Congress

Why can't Congess leaders themselves resigning or rebelling? To even think of alliance with SS has to be taboo. These are "self-proclaimed seculars" who talk about their strong values, so where is the Rahul resignation or their Muslim leaders ultimatum? Why go after a small party like SS, ask those ideology questions to Congress....

That is because the Congress is an all inclusive secular party. They welcome people of all hues. They even welcomed one time rabid extremists like Sanjay Nirupam and Chaggan Bhujbal (now in the NCP and incarcerated. Not sure which is worse?), provided they shed their extreme views.

I think they will support the SS once Uddhav Thackeray agrees to preach Hindu Muslim bhai bhai.

Ss is so done in maha, even the hardcore ss voter's will be super pissed,i know NCP+cong playing much smarter game as then the fight will directly be against BJP and NCP congress, making ss MNS irrelevant.

If you were correct, then where is the mass protest by SS cadre? Or rebellion by their MLAs? So greed, and loyalty to dynasty remains...
