Why was Ashwin completely sidelined from T20?

I understand the KUlcha factor.  It is almost like he permanently got sidelined while Sundar getting chances and Jadeja sneaking back in. I checked the last match where he went for 39 runs in 4 overs opening the bowling against Maurading Smith. In the same match Jaddu went for 41 runs in 3 overs bowling outside the power play. Only in the previous match he got rid of Pollard, Lendl simmons with 2 for 11.  I suppose Jaddu is in for fielding and supposedly batting? It looks like a compromise. If we strictly talk about T20 bowling Ashwin has always been better than Jadeja.

Jadeja

46 innings 35 wickets 31.22 avge  7.18 ER

Ashwin

46 innings 52 wickets 22.94 avge 6.97 ER

He picked out some very important wickets like him cleaning up Amla in world T20.

I could understand him being sidelined for Kulcha but to be sidelined for Sundar and Jadeja is nonsense. He has become a liability on the field that is biggest negative.

Lost place in ODI hence they lost place in t20... mixing formats . But TM decided to look beyond finger spinner at that point

Im still saying he is very underrated in t20 and shudnt be counted out yet. He has a lot of variation which is must in t20....even though his fielding n batting style goes against him but chahal isnt a good fielder and cant hold bat

We have to keep in mind, Ashwin bowled a lot of overs in the power play sometimes in the end unlike Jaddu who was always hiding himself in the middle overs and still having worse numbers than Ashwin.

yup

He gives that advantage of bowling in PP and he ll be handy on large australian grounds where he bowled well in 2015 Wc

I dont think sundar has done much wrong even though if he keeps dropping catches that wud become tough.

As a batsman sundar currently is better then ashwin specially in shorter format

As a bowler i feel ashwin is better

TM needs to take a call what they need a better bowler or better batsman

Sundar is  a good ER bowler. But not a wicket taker. Eventually it will come back to haunt him.

but as of now he is doing a 5th 6th bowler job and batting in top 7

Ashwin wnt be able to bat in top 7

Thats what TM shud look at what they want

I will give some weightage to Jaddu's batting in the one dayers. But in T20 he is still the same old Jaddu who misses more often than connects.  @velus buddy will more likely to be no.1 choice spinner. If they go in with 2nd spinner my vote goes to Ash.

Dropping Sundar will be unfortunate on his part

Jadeja is liability not Sundar

Infact they should have sent Sundar instead of Jadeja yesterday ,who is a pro in killing momentum and is successfully doing it for last ten years

Fair enough. Sundar hasn't done anything wrong with bowling. Doing the hard part which is bowling inside power play. He is only 18. Deserves a run. Very good ER. Under 7.

Since we play only 5 tests next year and Ashwin may not play a single one...he should be in the scheme of things in T20 (not ODI since he'll be 36 in 2023). Impressive WT20 record, good white ball outings in Australia, experience, no great finger spinner as alternative currently. Not saying he is a sure starter but can be a valuable squad member. Jaddu in T20s is a letdown, as a complete package I don't think Sundar is an improvement over Ashwin except that he is 12-13 years younger. Let's wait and see, many T20s before the big event, should try different combos.
