He has been the most pathetic selector.....

Best being Vengsarkar..followed by MORE...followed by MSK and finally Cheeka....

Even in MSK period...talents like......Pant, Saini, Kuldeep, Bumrah, Gill, Shaw, KL Rahul, iyer are identified and groomed.......

Cheeka never has any eye for talent....he is just outright mediacore

It was during Srikanth's tenure that most of the oldies retired.. India won the world cup. The only issue with him was making Dhoni the test captain. In hindsight that was the worst decision, but at that time it did feel right.

So player shud play with underperfomance

if avg dont matter, s/r dont matter, 50-100 dont matter

what does matter ??

in t20 yes

many many are better then dhawan such low is the benchmark set by dhawan

what about 50 other t20s games that he failed was that also pressure

Rahul is performing in similar circumstances knowing he is always one failure away from being dropped

yup he isnt a bowler, he is a batsman who can bowl but his strength is power hitting...i have said that 100 times

Averages matter and SR matter. One 50 followed by junk should not be the criteria.

So for ur info Dhawan has none neither avg neither s/r and dube at this point has both better then dhawan and even has a 50

avg

dhawan- 27

dube - 32

s/r

dhawan - 127

dube - 152

kahe ka s/r aur avg.....waha bhi dhawan bahut piche hai

If you have time to compare Dube as batsman vs Dhawan my opinion of you has taken another nose dive.

Dhawan more often not tends to score at below par or sub par rate even though Rohit himself takes time to settle down. Is it coz TM asks him for consistency? And dhawans ability to accelerate big after PP is a question mark.

He doesn't even accelerate during the PP. PP needs to be exploited by the top3. That's why you have people like Sunil Narine opening for KKR to throw the bat around. Don't need someone who strikes at 108 in a t20 pp :facepalm:If you ask me even Rohit is too slow to be opening but he is in for captaincy help like Dhoni used to be for Kohli. The entire setup is screwed up. If Kohli can play the anchor role and be an intelligent captain, Dhawan and Rohit can be taken off the t20 list. There are enough strikers waiting in the wings. Samson for one has been on the bench for too long. Gill can open and Sundar has the ability to be our own Narine. Sundar opens for TN in Ranji cricket. He is no mug with the bat.

Players who made their debut under Cheeka - Pujara, Rahane, Ashwin, Jadeja, Umesh, Aaron, Bhuvi.

10-12 years ago, these guys were equally exciting for the fans as young and upcoming players. Pujara and Rahane were pushing fab three, Ashwin was edging out Bhajji, Umesh and Aaron were the beacons of hope.

Dhawan himself played first when Cheeka was chief selector.

Having said that, Cheeka (or Dhoni) had same level of contributions in their grooming that MSK Prasad (and Kohli) have had on current set of youngsters - a big fat ZERO

How can you compare Dhawan's inabilities with Rohit. Samson too takes time to get going. Gill isn't a basher as well. Right now we don't have any fringe players even half as good as Rohit for opening slot.

Not comparing Rohit with Dhawan. Dhawan definitely needs to go. Just saying that Rohit is not that indispensable in T20Is. There are several openers who can do Rohit's job. If seniors stuck on to the 2007 T20 WC, players like Rohit wouldn't have got a chance to display their skills. Most teams let go of their prime players for this format. We have seen SL bench Matthews. Not saying Rohit should go but he is no king of this format. @zen thinks he is too slow for this format
