But the main frustration is that he is trying all this experiments to fit in Dhawan. I would have understood this is to fit in a outstanding future talent like Shaw and Gill. Is that really worth it given that Dhawan has declining form and fitness and inconsistent compared to 2013-2017.

Hogs up too much game time when batting at #3 in meaningless bilaterals and chokes under pressure in crucial matches. Normally, #4 is the toughest position to bat in ODIs and if he thinks he is the best batsman, then he should take up that responsibility. Dropping down or moving up one position in batting line-up shouldn't be a problem for any batsman.

And now he will lose his place on top of losing the match. On topic if Kohli is not able to deliver at 4,then Rahul should be given a decent run at the spot. The hope must have been that while Rahul establishes himself at 3,Virat could marshal the middle order which is not a bad strategy,however one can guess that Virat has already gone into panic mode and now will make a short sighted choice of Jadhav instead of Rahul

WIth him on crease strike rotation is always good . At 4 someone who has extra gear shud bat. Also teams are figuring out that he doesnt like spin at start and at 4 ull get spin at start most days. Zampa, Gopal, Adil rashid have trouble him so keep him at 3 coz kohli became kohli at 3
vice Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Virat is the best #3. No need to tinker the position permanently. This was a mere experimentation to give others the chance to bat in the middle. Virat doesn't need to sacrifice his spot for others.
