No Mumbai players for selectors please. They will rename Mumbai squad to Indian cricket team. 

 

Mongia shouldn't even be considered given his extremely shady past. Shady characters like Jadeja, Azhar (hca president) , Prabhakar, Mongia, Ajay Sharma should be nowhere near our set-up.

Southie superstars like "KKDK" benefited so much from just a bit of training from a random Mumbai Journeyman cricketer like Abhishek.  Injecting more Mumbai into any team makes it better.   Just like you get the best quality idlis in the world in Matunga.

 

Btw, Dilip Vengsarkar's legacy as Indian selector was pushing hard for Virat Kohli to make it to the team, over significant objections.

Off topic though but how incredible it is that Sarfaraz was thrown out of Mumbai team for his attitude issues mainly followed by inconsistent performances, most players would have languished away or tried to make it in other teams like he did with UP.

 

Now he comes back into the Mumbai ranji side which is possibly one of the most difficult sides to get into.

 

Either he has a powerful backer or that is some incredible  comeback story.

 

Anyways that alone has earned him some extra points already.

The sad reality is that Mumbai Ranji team's bench strength isn't what it used to be.  And also keep in mind that with Prithvi, SuryaKumar, Shivam Dube - they are missing 3 key starters.  

 

But yes, the fact that he was allowed to be considered for selection, and made it, is definitely noteworthy.

I don't want Siva to be selector. Why is Mongia is even allowed to apply was he not banned for match fixing.Agarkar might make a very good selector.

No doubt mumbai has given Indian cricket some superstars over the years.

 

But ex Mumbai players get aboard the hype train for newer mumbai players very quickly and try their best to get them in the team asap. 

 

Indian cricket will benefit when we cast a wider net and try to get more and more players from outside the elite ranji teams
