ganeshran Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Unfortunately if Pandya is not fit, we dont have a replacement for Jaddu right now in ODIs. We need to groom a power hitter who can reliably bowl 10 overs.

His SR is pathetic in t20s agree but it hardly matters, he has batted 23 times in 11 years. As long as he is justfying his role as bowler, he is just fine. That is the same attitude that resulted in Dhoni playing the most t20 internationals for India. The TINA factor. How can you say it doesn’t matter? That’s a very piss poor strike rate. This loser was discarded from LOIs for good after the CT debacle. But because Karke aaya got injured, this guy found a way back even though he’s undeserving. Even Ashwin over the years has shown that he can strike it better than him. How many more CT and World Cup losses will it take for people to realize that jadeja is just not good.

Jadeja is number 7 and a guy who will bowl his overs most of the time and is deadly on helpful wickets. That is his primary job.He does his job fairly decently and is electric fielder. He is just fine as odi player and allrounder. He won CT 2013 with his bowling. You are expecting him to win matches by scoring 90s and 100s why?He did his job in semis and also in last match.Did anybody stop Pandya or Pant to score 50s in world cup semi finals. Why are you blaming losses on Jadeja.Who cares about SR in low scoring games. He has batted 23 times in 11 years and scored just over 100 runs, that is very insignificant. He is not in the team for his batting in t20s. Don't compare him to Dhoni who was a pest for the team.Dhoni is in the team for his bat as much as he is in the team for his gloves. Edited February 10, 2020 by putrevus Cricspin 1
ShoonyaSifar Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Since the CT final in 2017, we have played 69 ODIs, won 48, lost 18, a W/L ratio of 2.7 Jadeja has played in 28 of these ODIs, we have a record of 17 wins and 8 losses, a W/L ratio of 2.125 (take only top 8 teams , without WI and with BD, the number slides to 10 wins and 7 losses in 17 ODIs, a W/L ratio of 1.4) In 41 matches, which Jadeja has NOT played, we have a record of 31 wins and 10 losses, a W/L ratio of 3.1 (vs top 8 teams, the record is 28 wins and 9 losses in 37 matches, a W/L ratio of 3.1, absolutely no difference) Which other team in the world would want to pick a player playing whom reduces your W/L ratio by nearly 33% overall, and by ~60% vs top 8 teams? But then we have our captain fool and coach loudmouth who seem to have strange obsessions. Ankit_sharma03, Laaloo and rahulrulezz 1 2

A power hitter who can reliably bowl 10 overs is a big ask.. that makes a high quality player for any team.. We are talking someone like Flintoff, Kapil, Botham or even Shakib or Ben strokes.. May be Chris crains.. Cause slow batting all rounders even dont qualify. I am not talking about a very good power hitter - basically a cowlasher like Afridi who comes in hits two sixes and goes. On rare occasions he makes an odd 50ish but still scores above 130 SR batting at 7/8. but you can always depend on him to bowl full quota of 10 overs. That's it. the only issue with this is if there is a middle order collapse and we are depending on this guy to hold the fort which wont happen. But in this scenario , Jadeja is not leading us to victory either. He is just taking us to a respectable defeat. Edited February 10, 2020 by ganeshran sarcastic 1
The Realist Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Its 2020 and we are still talking about Jadeja & Dhoni. Will they ever build for the future? Laaloo 1

Stats from last 30-32 months suggest through his below average bowling, Jadeja may also be significantly dragging down team’s chances of a win (almost no wickets during the middle overs)

In 10 years of LOI, I can name two of his match winning knocks. One against NZ back in 2009 and I believe that was a tied game and one a few months back against Windies. in the semi finals, pant and Pandya came to bat when there was so much pressure. Game was over when jadeja came to bat. There’s a reason why we lose a lot of time when jadeja scores a 50. Heck look at the last game, he was happy giving singles to saini because jadeja is a hack in LOI. That CT 2013 was a one off. No team should have lost from the position England was in. We have invested so much in jadeja the LOI and we have gotten so little in return.

Jadeja is fine for the investment. He is a player who has shown improvement every year his career.Thats all you can ask from a player. Pant and Pandya if they had stuck around India could have won the match easily. That is problem with Pandya , he is not good enough to bat at no6 nor he is good enough to be front line bowler.Jadeja is a fourth bowler on non spinning wickets but he becomes no1 bowler on spinning wickets. When Pandya wins a player of Tournament we can revisit Jadeja as a player and an allrounder in odis.Jadeja is least of India's problem. He was letting Saini score as he trusted him to bat, there was no point in shielding him. He was kicked out of the team after CT 2017 only to make a comeback a comeback due to ineptness of Kulcha. Jadeja is 100 times better than all these bits and pieces players like Krunal, Sundar, Dubey or Shankar.
