Cant blame him every time but just once in 12 games is very bad . A huge reason is his s/r which is 85 and he bats at 7 and actually his s/r at 7 is 83.

  1. 60* vs SL (India lost)
  2. 57 vs Aus (India Lost)
  3. 61* vs Zim (India lost)
  4. 51 vs Zim (India Lost)
  5. 78 vs Eng (India lost)
  6. 61* vs Eng (India won)
  7. 66* vs NZ (Match tied)
  8. 62* vs NZ (India Lost)
  9. 52* vs Pak (India lost)
  10. 87 vs Eng (India lost)
  11. 77 vs NZ (India Lost)
  12. 55 vs NZ (India lost)*

yea he is better batting a lil above but with Rahul at 5 he can max go to 6 . But today he had a lot of time

"Can't blame him" but that is exactly what you are doing.

Bats failed. Move on.

U cant blame one player all time but winning once in 12 is not even 10%, that means there is serious problem

He doesn't have a power game which is crucial nowadays unless you are bailing out the team from a top or middle order collapse.

It's a valuable skill to have but only if there is another big hitter there which we don't have. Jadhav is not doing it , Thakur can hit a few but not really stick around

Jadeja isn't a match winner with bat in LO, never was. Heck don't remind me of the time we lost due to him when SRT scored that fateful 175 :motz:

The issue is *wits like Dhongi, last year's SF, who dragged him down when he alone could've won the game for us! Of course when you are 4 or 5 down Jadeja alone will no be enough. You need someone who can use the long handle, it was Saini today but don't remember anyone before him in te last decade

Rahul should never be playing in the middle order. Him playing a couple of good knocks at 4/5 does not change the basic fact. Play him as an opener else do not pick him. But then under a TM, who does not look beyond a bilateral series, expect such poor decisions to continue as norm.

Your style of writing is interesting. You assign blame and then deflect. OP, nice work.

ofcourse im blaming him but also writing that every failure cant be put on him but failure % is more then 90% so he cant also get away every time.

this....  he is  a top 6 batsman who needs time to settle in... he can't hit out like a slogger straight away.Fans with common sense understand this except the dumb asses captain & coach. Either   make him bat at 6 or drop him from the ODI  team altogether

Jadeja is not going to win us matches with bat in LOI. He can play as a second fiddle though and score handy runs when given a chance to bat but somebody else has to take the lead to finish. He can definitely bat and has been more consistent in recent times but to expect that he is going to finish the match  is not right as he is really not somebody like Stokes or Shakib even though he is pretty good utility player who can be theire on the ODI squad. Even today Saini was the enforcer while Jadeja was keeping it steady at the other end. If we would have won the match, Saini should have been given equal credit if not more.

The real problem is that we have got a number 4 and 5 for now , we need to have right balance at 6 and 7 as well in terms capabilities. Jadhav definitely is not the answer to that. The combination has to be from the pool of Pandey, Pant, Pandya and Jadeja for now unless we get better options.

Also we have a new opening pair who will need little time but  not concerned about Shaw and Mayank. The ability is clearly there, they have proven it time and again , if we give them opportunities they will come good.

Good enough to bat at number 5/6 in Tests, regularly bats head of Saha (who has a FC and List A avg of 42+, no harm in giving him a run at 5/6  in ODIs esp. because he's undroppable across formats under Kohli.

Which test he played at 5 ?

in any case , context was one day matches not test .

His SR is bad because he  can only hit half volleys for 4, and the occasional short ball if given width.  He is worse than some tailenders as a power hitter.
