Bottomline U19 win or loss

Yes we did loose and it was more because of the meekness while batting and not taking risk and trying to boost averages  Individuals should come second first should be the team.

Jaiswal was hardly trying to score or take initiative, Bongs were accurate but hardly threatening or had pace or turn to back them, some sweeps or feet movement could have changed their line or lengths but openers were selfish

What matters is the potential, Kartik Tyagi touching 143k , S Mishra a left armor touching 142 k and Akash Singh the same have far more potential then the 131 k Bongs , Jaiswal has the game and skill but Mumbai school selfish, also selections didn't entirely happen per merit there r other players who were not included from UP the 2 Tyagi's.

Also India only gives the u19 players one chance to represent in the world cup event so many players were not eligible.

Bongs have done well and invested in their youth but there is a huge gap between the teams .

Where India lost was attitude and defensiveness then playing freely and non selfishly.

We have good spinners and fast bowlers and Yashasvi but batting seems weak in the current u19 team

This is underestimating the discipline and execution of the baby toygers in the field.  They didn't allow the Indian batsmen any freedom to score.  And fielded like real tigers, not toygers.

You can definitely point out that the lower order collapse by the u19 Indian team was a mistake, and something that shouldn't have happened, but even there, the pressure applied by BD was a major factor.

It is creditable that the bowler fought back to make a game of it, defending a sub-par total.  But BD won the game in the 1st half with some quality bowling, and really top-shelf fielding.

In under-19 we should salute that kind of maturity. Once he got out they collapsed. Same way once he got out India collapsed before recovery by tailenders. He is capable of catching up as we saw against Pakistan.  India lost it because Indian middle order is just like Indian senior middle order. 70% of the runs were scored by top 2 in this world cup. Very undercooked middle order.

You also have to keep in mind all teams that batted first had terrible starts or had collapse. When BD batted first against Pakistan, they were 106/9. So there was a risk of India imploding if he had taken risk and got out.  He respected the good balls. May be our seniors do the same in the knockout matches.

For u 19 kid he is very mature and I see him as a test opener. Even at this age he has better technique than some of our seniors. They way he leaves the balls outside of off stump and understanding of where his off stump is , was really conspicuous feature of his batting. Overall he looks to be a good find, Tyagi needs to get matured as he bowls lot of extras which he needs to control, Bishnoi as well needs to develop his leg spin or else he LL be found out at international level. I see some good potential in this team so it was a real good wc for us other than the final.

exactly, a strong top order (in this case only 1 bat) is masking the weakness of the middle and lower batsmen like in the senior team. We aren't choking, we're just getting found out because as you go later in the tournament the law of averages catches up, usually against the stronger sides.

In the senior side this has been mitigated by Iyer and Rahul claiming their places but there are wide gaps in the U19 sides which are anyway constantly in flux due to players aging out

Well we have to understand that u19 team in India undergoes huge churn on a year by year basis. Most of these kids started playing for the team only last year(Only Jaiswal and maybe Tyagi to an extent played before 2019), it's not like all of them were the only ones tried either. So all this talk during matches of us having played 30 matches is rather mute when you consider there was lots of rotation going on.

Considering all that runners up is not at all bad a result especially the investment and effort our opponent also put in there. What we have created is a pretty good system that generate decent batch of players on a yearly basis. That is something worthy. So a single loss in a closely fought final against an equally good team is hardly enough to pass judgement on the talent available. There is a lot more out there who can come through and jump the queue.

When you team is so dependent on top order to score runs, these types of match happen.Just like their senior team this team was top heavy and it carried them to finals.

It is funny people are calling this a choking, no this is not choking neither did India choke in world cup.To choke you need to get into winning position first.India was not in winning position in any of the matches they lost nor it was lost due to panic.

In a long tournament is middle order will be tested few times and tail once.Unfortunately both of them happened at the same yesterday.

BD have lots of skilled cricketers its their professional setup or lack of quality in it ( which these u19 have not yet reached) that makes or breaks them. If BD get their setup improved they will challenge India in senior cricket as well.

Credit to Bangla but the quality of Tyagi, or even the other Tyagis not in the team, Jaiswal, and other 19 players who have represented India but were not repeated is a level or two above.

They were accurate and restrictive for age group like Unadkutter but don't see the spark in the bowling, Batters yes like the openers as they were positive whereas Indian batters were too defensive but even Jaiswal is a level or 2 above

yup i think the growth that the Indian u19s get in the next few years due the indian FC setup is what will set them apart.
