Looking back, Vijay Shankar wasn’t that bad.

Dude is nearly 30 and has a similar batting average in ODIs. Not cut out for test cricket. Bits and pieces at best and that's being charitable.

Exactly, not taking him to Eng next year will be madness. Willing to bet that if given chances he will outperform Rahane with the bat and provide some crucial breakthroughs. Closest we have to a Collingwood like player who excelled in those conditions.

Well..

 

When team management thinks someone is good enough to represent India, he should be given a proper go...He should be given enough chances and allow him to settle...

 

They did a good job with Iyer....he failed in initial few chances but he was persisted with and now iyer made no:4 his own....

 

Most of the ICFers cursed Iyer and argued that he is not good enough to represent India....

 

If Iyer can bat, then Vijay can certainly bat .... moreover he can be a useful 6th bowler...

 

Always Mumbai players gets more chances as compared to other players...

 

Keeping this argument aside...Vijay has a solid technique and he should be persisted with.....

curran is easily 10k quicker and has a left arm angle which makes massive diff , he also gets a huge curve with his ball....shankar moves the ball little which actually is enough

Yes but he needs a complete mental overhaul and also need to grow some balls if he has to stand any chance, I have never seen an Indian Cricketer under so much pressure post Dhoni, Kohli era, he reminds me of our 90s team and that worries me allot.
