An e.g

Amarnath/Dravid/Inzi/Javed

Mankad

Imran

Engineer

Wasim

Waqar/Akhtar/Kapil

ill srsly consider VVS....coz he was the man for 4th innings and most team fall in 4th innings away

Outside of the subcon in Aus, Eng, NZ, SA & WI, best avgs in 4th inning are as following:

  • Gavaskar 76
  • Sangakkara 59
  • Dravid 50
  • Amarnath 49
  • Inzi 42
  • Miandad 42
  • Laxman 34
  • Tendulkar 28

I will add Younis Khan at #6.

Not bad but that may interfere with the balance/flexibility: 3 pacers Wasim-Waqar/Akhtar-Imran(AR) + 2 spinners Murali-Mankad (AR - 2 100s in Aus, 1 in Eng)

Yeah.

But YK has ability to score big hundreds and very good conversion rate.

Also I will replace Sehwag with Saeed Anwar to have a left hander with better batting average in england and NZ.

Gavaskar was poor against the best AUS/WI attacks overseas in 81/83 and unproven against RSA. He was also a passenger in our Test series wins in Eng in 71/86. Don't think he should be first choice in a team like this.

For a national team, which may not have too many good batsmen and/or batting depth, that can be useful but not necessarily for a Asian team as it has the luxury to field good batsmen in top 5 , along with batting till 8-9, relatively batting depth at #6 may not be a concern :dontknow:

Afridi is far better than all of the remaining.

Lets move Sangakkara.

Probably the best batsman (when he plays as a specialist batsman), along with Gavaskar, in the team.

I don’t see a WK in your 11 so you are making him keep too (where his avg can drop) and then you want to move him to open!

Note guys like Kumble can struggle overseas. Also there is not much batting after 7 relatively speaking
