Batting when both McGrath and Warne are playing

In 200 tests, Tendulkar has only batted once in the top order iirc. When Dravid played in MO, he did well and some folks can't even see that (I think it may be due to the declaration Dravid made in Pakistan :hehe: )

In 1994, WI was 0-1 down in Ind. Lara opened in WI's 2nd innings to set the momentum to help it to win the game.

That is what I call teamwork and brings team ethics into play. No wonder why Aus will remain the best team in this century also and even NZ and RSA (going down due to racial quota policies) with its meagre resources can outperform big guys. Even Eng is catching up to Aus these days

Anytime. I appreciate comedy wherever I find it :winky:.

Absolutely, which is why you are a Tendulkar fanboy

I just appreciate Indian players who were ATGs in both formats of the game :dontknow:. Unlike some agenda-driven fanboys of dreary accumulators like Gavaskar who seem to have deep rooted resentment against other Indian greats who had some flair like Kapil, Sachin and Kohli and were able to crack multiple formats :hmmmm2:.

Facts. Posting the full picture. Not leaving out numbers to suit my agenda.

Filtered out his numbers at number 3 to make him look better than you know who :giggle:. OP is known for such antics. In the past he used to filter out Gavaskar's numbers in the first two world cups and claim he "did well" in ICC tournaments :hysterical:. I hope Gavaskar is paying him some baksheesh/stipend for the daily muthmaar threads on him :thumb:

Plain as day for anyone to see. Intellectual poser.

Over and out from this skewed stat thread.

So you are saying these as facts but what the OP is saying are not facts. On the other side, you are saying the OP is undermining a great but aren't you doing the same. Whats the reason you picked Dravid out of the blue. You could have picked Laxman or other guys in the stats. Absurd if you ask me.

I just knew stats about dravid because it was on the top of my head as I posted in another thread just about a few days ago. Refer ankit sharmas thread on younis ponting lara tendulkar .

You can very well see my post there. in fact i even questioned about it and ankit replied to me there. I used dravids numbers because it was on top of my head as i had written there as he didn't have a particularly good record against SA and Australia. Thats all. I didn't write about laxman here because I didn't know about his stats.

You and the other fellow here can assign other sinister intentions for me bringing in dravid but the truth is i just posted about iit a few days ago.

Good:wave:

Good to know. I like cricket so try to appreciate all those who play well including players of other teams. I am past the stage where I can be a true fan of any cricketer as good cricket is the priority but do try to support youngsters

Cricketers come and go. Cricket stays!

What you tried to do is far worse. Anybody good enough to speak on data should be able to understand what the tables are about.

You do not have a clue, but want to talk about that. On top of that insinuate others of  wrong doings by using strawman

^Dravid has 4 tests 332 runs with one score of 180. It is a skewed analysis to show his high ave, while he averaged 30.x in other 5 innings. So your sample size for the OP is too low

Some have 3 tests. If they have one century in those they will appear to be higher up. This is exactly what is called as skewed analysis.

If you hit a test 100, you would be rewarded

Since you are focused on Tendulkar who has 7, anyone with 7 or more tests, has done better than Tendulkar on that list. What are the excuses for that?

Form is temporary, class is permanent

So the players on the list have no class? Only Tendulkar has it?

Sachin dominated Warne a lot. Wasn't it Warne who said he dreamt of Sachin smashing him for sixers. Lara was another batsman who Warne himself rates higher. KP batted well against Warne in 2005 Ashes in England iirc.

Laxman and Dravid were brilliant against Warne in 2001 Eden epic test. Even under pressure they played him with utmost ease.

Read this article for a comparison on how great batsmen fare against good bowling and bump up average over bad bowling. This is a better stat mining exercise than cherry picking over selective tests.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/21560975/which-batsmen-thrive-best-bowlers

“It is no surprise that top batsmen perform strongly against weaker attacks. Some more so than others, though. For Brian Lara and Tendulkar the difference in their performance against stronger attacks and weaker attacks is about 7 runs per innings. For Mahela Jayawardene, it is about 22 runs. For Jacques Kallis, it is 20 runs. For Ponting, Border and Rahul Dravid, it is about 13 runs. Only Tendulkar, Border, Sangakkara and Steve Waugh average over 50 against strong attacks away from home. Jayawardene has struggled against such bowling, averaging only 27 over 49 innings, scoring one century.”
