Jayant Yadav- a 100 and a couple of 4 wicket haul but suddenly disappeared into obscurity. Not even a central contract?

there were news BCCI, his home state were not happy with his attitude ...there were news of him faking injury

V.Shankar- came out of nowhere, did alright but where is he today?

was always classified in wrong category - hardik replacement .... both are very different kind of players

shankar right category was no.4 n 5 which got filled by iyer n rahul and gill n pandey is in backup

Only way for shankar to make a comeback in ODI is target no. 6 slot

  • for that he needs to add variation in his bowling, coz pace he cant
  • add a bit of innovative shots or power game for no.6

Something is not right.

kohli mindset

One day he ll feel X player is a champion and after 2 failure he ll think he is not good enough

kohli annouced for everyone that this is their permanent no.4- Rayudu, rahane, yuvi, DK , KL but after few failures he lost faith in all.

Dhoni n ganguly once they use to beileve in a player  backed them to insane length before giving up on them

In the 2013-17 period I think Vijay was at least as good as Che against spin. Got so many clutch runs on turning pitches esp in 2015-16 against RSA/NZ. Destroyed Aussies in the 2013 home series. Used the sweep shot a lot, the powerful variety fetched from outside off. Apart from disturbing the bowler's mindset/rythym it also forces captain to remove the FSL catcher. Haydos did it to us in the 2001 series with his powerful sweeps.

Absolutely  Indian player barely play these innovative strokes  in Int.  Games & that's why leggies often get the better of them.

Rahul,  Pant are the only ones whom I think have quick reflexes to play these shots.

Some Posters are saying about Rohit..  Just look at his fitness he can't pull off these strokes..  But he plays scoops in T20Is which is good enough for a player of his ability.  Kohli is one who needs to improve...  He barely plays orthodox sweeps forget about reverse sweeps( in Int games..  I know we may see some in IPL) Even Misbah in Tests used to play reverse vs spin..  Tendulkar too in his twilight years.

Much it has to do with outdated coaching methods.  English players seem to best at those & even young ones coming are amazing..  Pope,  Banton all seem to be expert.

Not watching all the IPL games, are Indians esp youngsters playing these shots regularly @Ankit_sharma03 @zen?

So far I only recall SKY and Tewatia (esp. in the game v SRH) make good use of it .... From the top of the mind recall - other players who try such shots include Pant and Sarfaraz (K11)

Though I am not looking out for these shots so may have missed a few players

Sky but he has always had a diff shot range

Its was great to see tewatia reverse rashud khan, what confidence can do....he was struggling to hit bishnoi before that game changing innings.

Its kind of been a disappointing IPL in terms of indian aggresive batting. Inconsistency all around .

Pant plays innovative shots but ppl call him hackish and wait to pounce on just 2 failures ....u cant expect them to play high risk game with solidity

People want them to put price on their wickets kike a Dhoni and Dravid at the same time maintaining a strike rate of 180-200+

Rishabh Pant has been disappointing this season, may be not in form. SKY is one player who has the ability to play unorthodox shots & sweeps. He is a must for middle order in T20s now.

He is not playing his natural game , affect of all the critisism. Also this hasnt been an easy IPL for hitters like pant, pandya, russell .....only stonis have looked good at the role whom no one expected.

You are right Pant seems to be playing with different method this year & has not been able to break free when he wanted. Though I don't want to attach any excuses for both Pandya - Pant. Both were expected to be better than they have been & unfortunately both have shown certain limitations which is worrying.

Stonis doing well is not a surprise. Those who have not seen him play in Big Bash before may not have expected. But there is no surprise to me that he is having yet another good T20 tournament. There must be many more who must have watched Stoinis before playing wonderful knocks at all levels. Mentioning "Nobody" is incorrect. You may say that those who do not have an idea of his game did not expect.

He  also batted in middle order in Big Bash couple of years back. Did you see his knock against Kiwis wherein he  counter attacked to score a ton. He has shown his ability at international level as well as domestic comps. So not surprised that he did well in IPL.

yea the 130 + i think but that was just 1 off

no one will take u srsly with one of innings, even corey anderson had that

the guy has messed up chasing around 10 in lst over twice that to once against shankar, it has been a struggle for him only in international in lower  middle

hopefully this IPL gives him confidence like it helped watson
