What were you doing or What was happening under old farms bill that will stop under the new bill ?

I am a Delhiite Sindhi  who is born and brought up in Delhi, father's family from Rajasthan, mom's from Delhi. Punjab is my state as much as Bihar is. If something bad is said about Punjab I will oppose that also...

 

90% of Punjab land is owned by jatt Sikh farmers(25% by population) (who I have nothing against obviously, they are like brothers also)...but suppose even if all jatt Sikh farmers are brain washed against these farm laws, that makes 75% of Punjab population who is not brain washed...my job would be to make the 25% population understand the benefits of farm laws and how it is in their own state government hands to even not implement the laws of they don't want, and so there is no reason for protest

Our state is not JUST farmers you know...? Theres more to the identity of the place than just farmers. EVERY state has farmers if you didnt know. There are more so called educated non farmer morons who vote for AAP and Congress in Punjab.. the latter is even more surprising as it was involved in the attack on Shri Harminder Sahib and the genocide of our sikh brothers.. but lets not get history or facts in the way shall we?

 

I find it very interesting that a certain section of people in Punjab and diaspora want to target BJP and RSS as elements which are against the sikh people.. if you are able to find me one historical event where these organisations have been involved in an activity comparable to Congress, then maybe the constant noises of 'oh BJP/RSS is against Sikhs" can be taken seriously, otherwise its just nonsense rabble. This whole event was never about religion, it were agricultural reform bills, but some people have made it one.

@Under_Score@Khota@Singh bling I came to know from a close friend that his friend in college who was a top scorer in engineering who left all the high paying jobs to farm in the land he purchased was found dead in a railway track. He worked in Bangalore and his farm was not far from there. This happened a couple of years ago. I'm not even going into the politics here but this is how things are now these days no matter which party is at top. This large scale factory farming is bad for us in the long run. Yes zamindars are bad but what's happening here is small fish being swallowed by the big fish. I would rather have these corrupt zamindaars and some individual farmers who are more in number than big corporations that have political connections who can create an oligarchy like the US and other western nations. I have also heard from an older guy that you cannot buy any land in western TN without the "blessings" of a certain Kannadiga ex-businessman turned spiritual guru who runs an ashram there. @Jimmy Cliff , please share any information if you have on this

I completely agree with you. Even in US farming is well regulated and controlled. In western world based on taxation system they have created a real middle class whereas in Inida 70% of wealth created has gone to top 1%. People think it is BJP/CONG/AAP issue. This is basic humanity issue. If you cannot emphatise with poor hardworking Indian than you are not a moral person.

 

And I agree 100%, they are creating oligarchy in India.

State governments have very little say so in this. Input to farming (fertliser,seeds,electricity) is all under federal control. You don't want a situation where very few people controll all the wealth in India.

That is not true and those who do that are wrong. Hindus are not against sikhs and neither are sikhs against Hindus here. Problem is calling these people Khalistanis and Atankwadis is criminal and should be punished. No one wants Khalistan. No one.

What you say in India is true but US and the west are not that far from it either. It looks like all is fine from the outside, but the middle class in the west is eroding under the guise of left right politics. But in India, it may happen quicker as nobody values human rights that much, people are ill informed not educated. As much as we hate regulations, govt regulations are there for a reason. We can't turn it into a wild west scenario in the most basic need of humans - FOOD and WATER. We as Indians mostly respect life in general, some of us are even vegetarians. This has to be respected and not blindly ape the west. We cannot be a country like the US. We can become a self dependent nation on agro business alone and this cannot be controlled by a privileged few. Those people who live in the cities now have their ancestral origins from a village nearby and this will be a slap in the face of their ancestors who came to the cities to avoid poverty. I know some maybe tempted by the big city "riches" but most of them came to the cities to earn their daily bread. Ironically the daily bread grows in their own villages This is a system created by the european colonists and our kaale angrez (stealing the quote from Rajiv Dixit @Jimmy Cliff) are just following in their footsteps.

True, however people are only targeting certain elements who are misguiding and informing the poor farmer as such. I have been saying this for a long time and multiple times on this thread.. no one is calling the common farmer a terrorist. It is a small group of people (politicians and anti nationals) who are using this as an opportunity to spread propaganda and potential anarchy against the state.. as long as unki rotiyan pak rahi hain bhad me gaya desh.

 

these farmer unions are the ones who are creating the mess.. first they support congress and Aap in similar reforms in their manifestos but now are opposing BJP for the very same. The fact that there is a lot of communist and naxal influence in farm unions says a lot. 
 

Maybe you need to come to the UK where I am and maybe Canada, where Sikhs have made this into a religious issue (with a useless caveat of ‘ oh it’s not about religion’ and started to shout Khalistan slogans in marches and burning Indian flags.. because ‘BJP is against the Sikhs’, I have seen countless instances of Sikhs emotionally blackmailing non Sikhs and influencers of not posting about the the farmer protests on social media.   Apparently if you speak up against their Khalistan identity you are automatically labelled an anti Sikh and Hindu facist. I mean is this the kind of world we want to live in going forward?

Not saying thatthere are opportunist people using this to further their agenda. I am sure there are Khalistani elements who are  saying that BJP is targetting sikhs and BJP elements saying that these are Khalistanis who are protesting. 

 

All I know is that this is an economic issue and nothing else. This is about equitable distribution of resources/wealth.
