Ash *Take a Bow* win

Too much is made out of Ashwin's SENA failures. Not great but not that bad either, his only real failures were 2013 Jo'burg and 2018 Southampton. In that Jo'burg match pitch had flattened out a lot, team was ATG RSA which had done great things on day 5 before and he was inexperienced. He should never have played Southampton test, Kohli and Shastri confirmed before the match that he was unfit yet took a gamble.

He may not have 5fer to show but some good performances which unfortunately didn't result in wins for us.

2018 Centurion he deserved a 12fer, we dropped 10 catches (proper ones, not half-chances or ones that didn't carry) in total and 5 off his bowling.

2018 Edgbaston 120/7 and all of them being their best bats, Cook 2x, Root, Stokes, Buttler...the way he dismissed Cook in both innings was genius. His performance on day 1 was the most artistic bowling I have seen by any spinner in Eng since 2005 Warne. Dhawan dropped one off Ishant (Rashid was the batter IIRC) when they were 105 ahead (for 7) otherwise target would have been <150. Still if batsmen can't chase 190 in day 3/4 conditions why blame bowlers?

2018 Adelaide again underrated 6/145 and a marathon spell on day 5 with conditions extremely flat, 53 overs 92/3

Lyon took 12 in 2014 Adelaide but Ashwin didn't play. When they have come face to face since then Ashwin has more or less matched Lyon which is extremely difficult to do. 2015 SCG test again he took 4/105 and checked their onslaught in 3rd innings when Umesh was going at 15 rpo, otherwise we wouldn't have drawn that. Did well in previous MCG test and helped us draw, look at the bowling figures in those matches. His stats take a hit cos of 2011/12 and 2014/15 Aus tours but those were some of the flattest tracks imaginable (we never took 20 wickets once in 2014/15) and compare him with the others, far better. Another big what if was 1st test in MCG 2011, if you watched that match you'll remember that drop of Hussey by Dravid off his bowling, could easily have been another 6/7fer setting up an easy chase.

Mostly to do with inferiority complex, same ICFers who whine about his SENA stats go to PeePee and kiss Yasir's ass. Apart from a couple of tests in Eng what has Yasir done? 200-250 runs at 5 rpo and a few gifts from bored batsmen in dominant positions. Even on his worst day Ashwin takes a couple and ties up an end.

I don't give a * about some elusive 5fer, if his 4fer (includes getting Smith out for 1) can help us win this match I will be overjoyed. This is a strong Indian bowling attack and when all are bowling well it is difficult to take many wickets, like the great WI team, those guys never feature in max 5fers/10fers list since they shared the wickets. Someone like Kumble had very weak support cast, hence could even pick up an 8fer in SCG or 10fer in Delhi. Going ahead 5fers/10fers will be rare in Indian cricket, get used to it and stop seeking validation from others. Also keep in mind that not all 5fers/100s are quality, even if they are doesn't diminish match-winning 3/4fer or sub-100 runs (GR Viswanath the foremost example)....ultimately about helping your team win.

This is the GOAT (legal) SC bowling attack and one of the ATG ones with Ashwin as a key component, only after the retirement of some of these guys will we know their worth. Can you imagine their fighting spirit, having to compensate for a weak batting unit and picking 13-14 wickets every innings to cover the dropped catches!!!!!

I have seen Harbhajan, Swann, Lyon, Ashwin all in their primes and Ashwin is easily the best of the lot. It is so much fun to watch him plan and take wickets. He is a ATG in my opinion

He is a proud guy but I feel that pride is also his downfall. Jadeja cannot create wickets , this guy can do that but he still tries too many variations for my liking.Let us not go overboard with one performance, it is about time he delivered.
