You answered your own question, of course power as well.

Disappointed with Ganguly the way he did nothing after we were Humiliated in NZ.  No accountability was done.  He only talks big but has no intention to do well for Indian cricket.

Of course they will. I clearly recall fierce action that was taken against Dhoni, post 0-8 drubbing.

As suspected, in his current role, Ganguly has decided to let his political side take over his cricketing acumen.

Indian fans heavily criticized Dhoni for his horrible performance as captain in his last few years. Nothing happened for many poor performances over successive years.

Kohli is another big name. Cry and crib as much as a fan can, he will be the captain till he retires from test cricket.

Ganguly never had good intentions for Indian cricket. Remove those rose tinted glasses and look at his final year as captain. Despite his horrible personal form and terrible home season, he held on to the captaincy role until he had to be kicked out. How can he look into Kohli's eyes and talk about accountability? Australian cricket culture is different, accountability is maintained by senior players when they were playing, so they have aukaat to give lectures to current players.

Ponting, the most successful captain in history was sacked in the middle of series after that horrible home ashes. Steve Smith, greatest batsman in modern cricket is sacked and banned for an year after embarrassing them in sandpaper gate

Yo he was not sacked because he got injured after MCG test which Oz lost IIRC, agree with your points but he wasn't exactly dropped! He came back as cap for the 2011 WC straight back into the fold.

Just wait until Wt20 when both NZ and aus field full strength bowling attack. We'll see one more 15 minutes of poor cricket

No. History repeats itself every decade or so. last time it was 0-8 and captain remained and before that 0-3 v Aus in 1999 and 0-2 at home v SA. unlike Sachin, Dhoni didn't give up test captaincy in 2012 and I expect Virat to follow suit. On this front, Sachin appears to take accountability but not on retirement front. As long as hero worship continues, this will continue forever. Who among the young players are suited to captain India going forward. Shaw, Gill, Rahul, Mayank, Pant, Iyer, Hardik. Anyone who steps into the limelight of Indian captaincy will go through the hero worship phase and if they buy into it, they are bound to follow what has been a bane of Indian cricket. Hardik, Gill and Rahul seems to be the most saner options but they will be tested when the situation arrives.
