Don’t make mountain out of a molehill, says Kohli after lowest team total

You are clearly misquoting him and everyone here knows that.

He never said that media shouldn't make a mountain out of molehill, he said that the team won't do this.

This is a very practical approach and he said what every captain will say after a big loss.

I totally expect this from indian fans, to counter the fact that all their youngsters are flat track bullies(ipl specialists) we need to live in denial and blame everything on the only man who is saving our face.

I shudder to think what will happen when these ipl hacks will replace real cricketers like kohli Aand pujara.

#BoycottIPL

This statement is the ultimate proof why he is not good enough to be the captain..

Past players don't have any real power, only the BCCI office bearers have! Where do you get the idea that just going on a Dharna against the likes of Brat, drunken master will make them yield? Are you really that naïve :whine:

no need of power to call spade a spade. Gautham Gambhir  frankly opens up his mind  quite  often and  criticizes players . If these ex players have that 'nationality' feeling, it is natural that  they would sincerely express their opinion unless they suck to BCCI for what  ever reasons....

Doesn't work in our country. Current Players are too powerful. Remember when sachin talked about dhoni's intent and his slow batting during worldcup and how badly he got trolled? i doubt anyone even agreed with him.

I may be abused by many for saying this, Kohli is a worse captain than Sachin was. Both are phenomenal batsmen, but captaincy wise, atleast Sachin did not have ego and was not a PR fanboy.

Further, Sachin had a poor bowling attack and an even poorer batting lineup till Ganguly/ Dravid made their mark in Intl. cricket.

In 1990's, we failed twice in a test match in SA. Other than that, we always fought our way no matter how far behind we were in the match.

Under Kohli brand of positive cricket, we lost everywhere. Only won agains a depleted Aussie side.

In the current set-up, I feel Rahul or even Ashwin are better captains. Atleast they don't have megalomanic personalities!

Don't get me wrong. I love Kohli and his aggression. But he is a poor man manager, never supports youngsters and is mostly driven by his bigger than the team "EGO".

Sachin had the decency or the system at the time had the potency to replace him. Unfortunate Kohli is too powerful he needs to go as a captain and be just a batsman - time for Rohit to take over. IN tests no idea who it can be.

Its nauseating to listen to such idiotic comments of "don't make mountain out of a molehill" by the skipper who can't even be honest after such defeat. Its not the first time Kohli & his cronies done this- SA series, England series, WC & the list goes on & on. You got out for 36 & a subject of ridicule in the cricketing world since yesterday , genuine knowledgeable cricket fans irrespective of the nationality has been blasting this team for their crap show in a pitch which wasn't a minefield just good pace bowling, hitting right lengths & making them play.
As much as I blame batsmen for their individual capacity of putting no fight, the constant  chopping-changing, fear of getting thrown out from the team is taking a toll on batters. BCCI as an org. cares only about :money:& continues to massage their inflated egos.
Which nation with some amount of self-pride would be fine with test losses consistently within 3 days? You lost 11 tests in England in last 3 tours - 11 FREAKING tests in a decade & not even a pip squeak. Such performances makes ECB/CA to cut short number of tests of other nations who aren't financially strong so just thank your lucky stars. Keep reveling in your own mediocrity, filling record books during insignificant matches while when it matters s*** yourself grandly.

its just shitty batting. they need some mental conditioning. its just a *ing game. lol they just crapped themselves. all they needed to do was score 250.

this guy play useless series against wi, afg and bd  doesn't take a day off to save his captaincy he kept playing Ranji even when his father's died ( he shouldn't have done that). but in all important series against Aus knowing pretty well that once he gets back to India he can't return he planned to go back. I know it's important to be near your family but captaining India team and fighting in all important series is also very important especially when your team is on back foot and morale is down. It looks like he has already presumed that we will get humiliated and it might impact his brand badly so he has chickened out.

He probably know it's the  end of the road for him, he'll have to hand over the captaincy in 1 or 2 formats given his poor record on winning major trophies. Oz series is also a way for him to get rid of the deadweight, pretty sure some of the old guard will get the boot here or after the end of Eng series for good. He's *ing cunning that way, just like Dhoni when he lost us he 2012 series at home & we had to eject Sehwag, GG, Zaheer & even Yuvraj(?) IIRC.

it’s a personal decision birth of first child is a very big event no one can and should comment on its merits. India should look for someone else to lead and it can’t be some weakling like Rahane.

ODIs/T20Is obviously we need change. Maybe give Rohit the T20 captaincy now, 10 months before T20 WC and if it works out well and subject to him adhering to highest standards of fitness, ODI captaincy role as well.

Tests I still think Kohli is the best option. mainly need more accountability, a wholesale change in coaching staff (enough time given to this group), introducing extras like mental conditioning coach, specialist slip catching (plus wicket-keeping) and spin bowling coaches, batting/bowling consultants for future overseas assignments etc. Also a structural change is desirable, we need a visionary director of cricketer (like Strauss for ECB post 2015 WC disaster) to oversee.

Nothing gonna happen just like Dhoni he will not leave captaincy until he wants or until some other players comes out performing all gun blaz ing like pandya in loi... Or else he doesn't have any competition in test. Entire test team is filled up with meek and coward no youngsters or future talent has been groomed like him he was groomed during their early days.

not all of them.

KLR,Ashwin,Pandya spring to mind. Rahane is a meek person but chosen to be VC for that specific reason..

Only Ashwin is permanent in Test xi... KLR and Pandya are not regular. I think Ashwin is good candidate if he perform like first inning.

lol it must be 21/8 has it ever happened. must have happened when some country played their first ever test in some minefield.

21/9 by Aus against RSA , 2011...somehow managed 47 but lost the match.

I think in 2018 Eng collapsed to 26/9 in NZ before some fluke hitting by last pair took them to around 60, don't remember exact details.

Yes this is why the 36/9 in isolation isn't that bad, given what other last pairs had done in these matches. In terms of what it means, it's probably an infestation of all the wounds this team is carrying over the last 3+ years especially overseas. They need a complete overhaul for sure!

I don’t think he has ever chickened out of a battle. Even in this game, he played the best knock of the test match. Dilip Doshi is entitled to make his choices. However, If he was so big on duty, maybe he could have improved his fielding, added variety to his bowling etc. During his day, there were plenty of gaps between matches. He could have worked on his game. Especially fielding, which was terrible.

As if Kohli is fielding epitome...he has given an opinion it has nothing to do with his cricketing abilities. While he agreed that it's Kohli's  personal decision and he respect tha but as a leader Doshi would have stayed back and I think there is nothing wrong in it.
