Would England have won World Cup 2019 if Virat Kohli was their captain?

During IPL, season after season we see RCB and Kohli make a fool out of themselves. Experts always say that give Kohli a strong team like MI and he will be a champion to.

 

I already know that these experts are on PR duty and can’t criticize this clown or else they will lose their jobs, so I made a thread in the IPL section asking the same question.

Everyone has disagreed with these experts and said that MI will fail like RCB if Kohli was in charge of them. Now I want to take it up a notch. 
 

Do you think England would have won last year’s World Cup if they had Kohli in place of Morgan in the team and appointed him captain for their campaign?  
 

My answer is HELL NO. 
 

Neither Kohli or Root are captaincy material. England cricket is smart and they already know this. That’s why Root is not even vice captain of England, it’s Jos Buttler. 
 

I refuse this “Give Kohli a strong team and he will be champion” bull crap. He already had great resources at his disposal in the past few years but he wasted all his time on losers like Rayudu, Jadhav, Karthik and a way past-it Dhoni.

Ind has had good captains relative to other Ind captains but not necessarily relative to good captains of top international sides .... As for Eng, a lot of hard work and strategy went into its LOI game post 2015:

Kohli is a brilliant batsman and we should be grateful that a top batsman like him is in the team. But he’s not a captaincy material. Yes, he’s won matches and tournaments from U19 WC onwards but he’s not a captain/leader. 
 

Don’t discount India’s campaign in ICC WC and before that CT. India has won many matches under him in league stages. It’s the matches in the elimination stage where he loses out, whether in IPL or in ICC series. WHY? We’ve no clue. It could be many factors and I’ve been trying to understand the pattern. 
Ive come to the conclusion that ICC events have become like WWF events. Winners are already decided before hand. I’ve my own doubts about England being a worthy winner of the last WC. I thought NZ were the more deserving ones...

That said, Kohli being the top batsman in Team India, he will be the captain till he retires. That’s how the culture is in India. The player who performs regularly and consistently will be the captain, whether you like it or not, whether team loses or wins...

Agree with everything but NZ were not the deserving ones..  They were thrashed by Pakistan & were lucky against WI really.  Got beaten by Australia & thrashed by England in group stages.  Given how we were playing in Group stages would've lost against us as well.  They had their share of luck.  England was/is playing outstanding cricket in ODIs since 2015 & they deserved the Trophy.

NZ was lucky to get past group stage. Also Eng won both SF/F after losing the toss and chasing, extra marks for that in a tournament which saw mostly teams batting first and winning. And Eng had 4 years performance to show, the best team in the world (#1 ranked) also won the World  Cup which sounds right to the ears.

Under skipper Kohli Eng would have lost one of the must-win matches in the latter part of group stage when it was on the verge of not making SF. And no way would he have kept his cool in that tense final, against Williamson.

Correct me if I am wrong but for a couple of seasons in IPL, RCB had:

Gayle

Watson

Kohli

KL Rahul

ABDV

DK

Starc

Chahal

 

and most of the above names at their peaks.....

 

And still Kohli couldn't win IPL, tells us all we want to know about his captaincy. Give him those ATG WI and Aus teams I am sure he would find ways to * up.

Roy, Bairstow, Stokes, Buttler.. too high strike rate and too much risk. These would never find a place in Lolli's line up. His England team line up would look like this -
