Teams have better analytics to work him out. Heaps of tapes. Besides he is a chucker. Puajara doesn't struggle vs leg spin. He would thwart Warne. Anyway it's all conjecture. Link to comment
diga
Dravid adapted better to the vagaries of modern day cricket including keeping in ODIs and being a finisher in ODIs along with test credentials as #3 ... Link to comment

Pujara has his utility in how own way too. Different types of players that get compared only due to their slow strike rate. Pujara is actually a much enhanced version of guys like Shastri who played great % defensive cricket Great comparison with Shastri. I agree. Pujara is in the moulds of the old classical batsmen. Dravid was a treat to watch. But they cant be compared. Link to comment

Muloghonto
Comparing Dravid to Pujara is like comparing a Ferrari to a Porsche. Both are very good cars but only one is an actual legit elite car. Link to comment
mancalledsting
Dravid hands down. At one point he was known as best batsmen in the world and in England 2002 you simply couldn’t get him out. He had international respect and admiration and would always be one of first names on a world xi. Like srt, He ruined his reputation/average a bit by carrying on for too many years. Dravid had a low strike rate but that was not as unusual for those times. Aside from Aus, has Pujara done that well in SENA? South Africa aside, remember Dravid as very good in SENA. Let’s not forget Eden gardens. Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
Dravid for me primarily because of 148 at Jo'burg, twin 100s in NZ, double 100s in Eng, Aus and Pakistan, the twin 50s at Kingston and the 2011 Eng tour. But Pujara after his last 2 Aus tours, is edging closer. Link to comment

It does as gameplannimg and strategizing to outwork a specific bowler makes it much easier. Take boxing for example. It's easier when you are able to analyse someone's game and pick up on it. Utilize your strength to pick them apart by finding flaws in the opponent's skillset. Same applies in cricket. Patterson will be worked out for Murali. Besides Murali always got carted in India. Besides I am talking about tests. Murali always struggled in India. Link to comment

Most times India were scheduled to play long formats first as a priority which makes it easier to acclimatize Pujis era is different. All 3 formats are equally prioritized due to monetary reasons. There is a reason why short formats are played first when India tours now. Link to comment
