I was reading this and the SII fire deaths and could only think of the death of innocent, impoverished people. After watching the videos, it is clear that the protests have gone completely out of hand. On the BBC video that @Clarke posted above, those tractors should've been disabled by having their tyres shot - on the spot. Many bystanders and police officers could've lost their lives. I have tried to understand the farm laws from all sides. GoI certainly got on the wrong foot, but backtracked and made necessary corrections. But the other side has taken this to a whole different level. And that is a pity. coffee_rules 1

Police lines broken, they were beaten and a lot lost a lot on that day. Indian Police is not same or equipped as ones in west. They totally rely on the fear of the Police. Government got it wrong. Accepted it. Resolved each issue. Finally it ended up suspending it. But plan for 26th January was done long back. I do recall some farmer union leader on some republic tv debate indirectly mentioning it. hence, I said, Farmers wont go back till 26th Jan.
