England fast bowler Jofra Archer will miss the second Test with India starting in Chennai on Saturday because of an elbow injury.

 

The 25-year-old bowled 30.1 overs in England's 227-run first Test victory sealed earlier this week and has had an injection in his right elbow.

 

Warwickshire paceman Olly Stone, who played his only Test to date against Ireland in 2019, could deputise.

 

Stuart Broad is also in contention having missed the first Test.

 

Fast bowler Mark Wood is being rested until the third Test.

Funny how you mention no Archer, no buttler who averages like 29 in India. 

 

Yet India are missing Umesh Shami and Jadeja. Although yes home Condtions makes it a bit easier but those 3 are ATGs in our Conditions.

In 2018, we got rolled over by a pathetic Eng team, primarily by a rookie Sam f***** Curran. That's the strength of playing at home. But for such things to happen, the captain needs some brains to spot and get the best out of our own 'Sam Currans'.

totally agreed. no excuses even without our great players. We are still at home. dunderhead makes things difficult.

For a bowler averaging 31 with a SR of 63, Archer does get a lot of footage.

 

While the absence of Jadeja and Shami  ... both of whom are match winners in India ... is being hardly mentioned. 

 

As an Indian supporter, I want Archer to play on slow pitches and go for runs. He can be a threat with the pink ball though.

Jofra and Rabada both, in my books are over rated! I would want Archer to play the tests, if thats the best England has. We should beat them fair and square.

Well no loss, he is easily the most over rated bowler.

Was barely touching 135 in his last spells , still averages high for a bowler whose ability is overrated by english experts.
