F16 is from 80s, if i am not wrong top gun the aircraft shown was supposed to be F16. Sure you can take the old aircraft and upgrade it but how much does it help ? If i take a maruti esteem from 80s and put aftermarket panoramic roof, airbags , center system , cruise etc it still will be poor compared to any current car in market

The only thing you cannot add is the stealth features but the upgrades keep it very competitive. The evolving blocks have kept this jetthe best. New engine, new radar new avionics and once again you have the best modern jet. Ofcourse Rafael has some advantages but price negates that.

If u updated engine suspension tyres interiors dashboard etc the 70s car could thrash current cars. That can & in a way happens to aircraft, they're updated inside out over a period of time. Typically, u can make a 4th gen fighter into 4.5 gen with upgrades but not a 3rd into 4.5 gen. Pakistan Air force is an exception, they turned the 4th gen JF17 into supposedly Su30 killer, 5th gen stealth fighter in a couple of yrs and an intergalactic fighter in a decade or two.
