i suggest you look at how many wickets we took in the first 10 overs even with a full strength bowling unit,i am guessing we are pretty low on he list.

What is the benchmark? How many wkts do top 3-4 teams pick up in first 10 overs in the last 2-3 years?  ... As for this series, which is what is being discussed, Roy-Bairstow p'ship is currently the most effective

The main difference happened when Krunal and Kuldeep bowled trash for a period of 7-8 overs. I think they scored 100-100 in 7 overs.

Dude, England chased 300 2 times in 45 years since 1971. Since 2015 they have chased it successfully 10 times already.

 

In that period, they have chased >350 against New Zealand, Pakistan and West indies and 3 times chased never 310 against Australia

 

You have to acknowledge the world has changed and approach too

Best approach for india is to do 3 things - 

1. Include a player from whom you expect runs at 150+ in PP . Even a 30-40 would be fine from him .  Even if he gets out no big deal.

2. Better use of Hardik , Pant . If India is around 100+ at 1 down , need to send Hardik  to counter spinners or even a leftie . VK has been poor vs leggies .

3. No one seem to notice very poor running by Indians . They hardly take 2 runs and one of the worst culprit KL being a youngster. 

Inclusion of Shaw, SKY even Ishaan if improves further can make our team much bolder and  a better team. 

These can be done for patta pitches ASAP.
