The worst part was he was completely ill prepared. Sometimes you have to wonder what are Delhites thinking.

Based on two videos, looks like mofo Kejri is simply uninformed. And why did he broke the protocol? Instead of emergency meet. Various CMs will become more defensive and rather not discuss anything which can become political. I am telling, this is biggest antinational chewt people have elected

Yes  agree  and we need start  from basic right now even things we are good at also we are depended on other countries like raw materials for vaccine  and India as so many IT professional but rarely any products from Indian company we just service

Hoping for some miracle

I know there lot of stupid people but majority will listen if it comes from reputable source  and agree with other part

I had knowledge about it from reading  and I bet majority of doctors and Scientist knew it. The problem is they only can predict it can happen its not guarantied and government and people turns blind eye to them its only when it happens you will know the impact. if you see Ebola  as example  scientist were warning if it becomes transmissible it can really dangerous and were asking for research but majority didn't care and luckily its still has not mutated more transmissible although it has like 4  variants now I think

Yes, the warnings were there.  Scientists were talking about it.  Credible ones.  But authorities and public decided not to listen because things seemed to be going so well and no one wanted to hear the bad news.  This article is from Nov 2020:

“Typically, a second wave is more severe than the first one. ... mask, hygiene, distance ....

Can’t say if you are being sarcastic. But people know who is to be blamed.

I think more than any govt people are to be blamed. So called educated ones.

Tell me exactly how the people can be blamed here? You want the people to be locked down in their house and not worry about their livelihood? Do you want them to be extra careful when the PM himself is holding mega rallies in all states without mask? Is it the responsibility of the people to procure oxygen themselves?

This is the second wave and everyone warned there would be one and not to relax. What was the government doing between Sept to Mar? Why did they declare a premature victory?

the argument can be about which government effed up more , center or state + but shifting the blame to the ppl is insensitive AF.People of the country don't deserve this, they are dying in the streets but keyboard warriors sitting safely in their home are blaming them like "Lol who told them to go out"..

There's a lot of blame to go around.  While govt ineptitude is a valid point, it is also valid that people ignored the possibility and gallivanted around for all kinds of social events, putting everyone at risk.  So, while you certainly cannot blame people who went to work, you can blame their coworker who decided to travel for a week to attend his cousin's wedding with 500 other people.  In March.  When the signs were there.

Events are nothing they could just have may be few thousand max. All shops and people were out and working. India was back to street choked market for atleat till march 2021.  I myself is guilty doing same in jan 2021 in India

All mutations are random, of course.  More replications = more variants, of all types.  There are just as many less severe variants produced as there are VOCs (variants-of-concern), but are outcompeted by the VOCs and disappear (Which is why the VOCs are VOCs).  The only way to stop VOC appearance is to slow down the rate of replication.  The only way to slow down rate of replication is to slow down spread.  The only way to slow down spread is to be vaccinated, mask up, distance.

But isn’t survival in the DNA of viruses ? If they kill the host they will die too ?

That's my point, the people react to what leaders do. When they see the government declaring "victory" over Corona, see their leaders in huge rallies, see that all restrictions have been relaxed etc, what would they do? Not everyone can browse Twitter and analyse that second wave is inevitable. It is clear now that even the government took it easy after the first wave, so it is obvious that the people would follow their government

Why they held big election rallies & Kumbh Mela ? It just sends out the wrong message that pandemic is over.

And there is one more thing that must be said - collective responsibility does not come naturally to people.  In other words, when we wear masks, get vaccinated and distance, we tend to think of ourselves only.  But in a pandemic, fact of the matter is that, by doing those things, you are protecting others too.  Others, including doctors, nurses, ward boys, corporation workers, your servants etc. etc.

I get tired of hearing "nothing will happen to me."  It's not about just you.  It's about everyone around you.  Even if you don't fall severely sick, you spread it to others.  Some of them may end up in the hospital or die.

No way. But later part of your suggestion is allready done. Over 2 weeks back. Not only that, oxygen is being imported from neighbouring nations via sea route

Still oxygen cylinders are not available & this is just the beginning of the wave.

Yes, but they don't "think" that way.  They just randomly replicate, spread like crazy (and severely infected people spread to more people), and what happens, happens.  But once you slow down the replication, that kind of VOC appearance and spread slows down, and the more benign variants have a chance to become the dominant variant, and stick around, causing less overall harm.

I don’t know how, but we always blame everything on somebody else. It’s the government, bureaucracy, politicians, private corporations, etc. Yes Mai baap government gets the first blame, but when they enforced the first lockdown for three months, remember how every journalist, keyboard warrior, twitterati became economists and started to worry about GDP, economy and future. They inflated the migrant issues with Barkha Dutt and others doing road shows, would show barefooted migrants , but wouldn’t help them. Leeches.

After the first wave subsided. Everybody became an expert on genetics and started writing theories of how deaths and cases were plummeting in India , this happened even in March.

Yes, everybody has to get back to work. There was no need to be superspreaders. Govt kept its guard down mainly because of GDP growth projections showing as high as 12% and didn’t want to harm that. Everybody would turn back to becoming economists.

Yet, there were 2nd waves in USA, Eu, Brazil where the solutions were simply to go vaccinate people, mask and social distancing. This is a serious lapse of the governments - state and central. If ministers are busy in elections, the bureaucracy, justice depts, could have worked. While educated people could have spent less on worrying where to eat next , in which fancy restaurant.

End mein thappad khane ko bas gormint hi milte hain (in the end. Govt gets slapped)

I suppose so.  We tend to look to our leaders for direction.  Same shyte happened here in the US with former Pres A-hole ripping his mask off like he was Zorro or something, thus undermining mask-benefits.

Spot on!  When one eats at the restaurant, who all is at risk?  Yourself.  Your people.  Waiter.  Maitre' d.  Valet driver.  Chef.  Line Cook.  Dishwasher dude.  Cleaner.  Busboy.  And all their families.  Now, they have to earn.  By doing take out, you get a good trade-off.  They still make a bit of money.  You still get to eat what you like.  And while the risk is not zero, it is significantly lower.

Well I didn’t say all people. I said educated people. I visited three cities including Chennai over last 4 months. People are behaving as though everything is back to normal. Yes, everything was good but the virus was still out there and people refused to wear masks. Those who had not got their first vaccines and were vulnerable were out. Why were the vulnerable crowding to buy sarees ? This is nothing but casual attitude.

Blaming govts and expecting them to protect you at each stage is a sign of incompetence or irresponsibility. This spread has not happened because people had to go out. This has happened because educated informed people did not exercise their discretion. People want to celebrate festivals and attend weddings. Then what’s wrong with rally. It’s the same virus.

People who don’t want to take accountability for their own actions will keep finding parties to blame. So, the guy attending Stalin’s rally got his cues from PM ? It’s interesting you don’t bring up politicians in TN.

Politicians are same world over. Elections in US didn’t stop when there were more than 200,000 cases or 4000 deaths. If you expect a nany state to protect you, you are living in Lala land. This will be a tough learning experience for Indians. There was no other way but go through this.

This is just selective utter non sense at so many levels. But I think this has been blown apart in the past few weeks. Don’t want to go back to this again.
But if there is a guy in Mumbai, looking at Kumbh and thinking that pandemic is over, people are way more stupid than I thought.
