I understand the reasoning behind that as production is limited and states suddenly asking for more n more, and complaining that centre is not giving enough, they smartly left to states to procure the vaccines. Now almost all states are procuring through global tenders competing with each other...They cant complain that centre is not giving enough. But it would've been better if centre has procured the vaccines through global tenders and distribute to states.. SOme states like TN would've complained endlessly for not getting enough, but they dont even complete their allocated vaccines, but allowing states to procure is waste of resources and ability to negotiate. Actually, Centre was pushing to first vaccinate all 45+. If I am to guess, States were seeing the reality on ground oie poor intake of vaccine among 45+ and in that basis were saying they would vaccinate instead under 45 too. Centre probably put its foot down and asked them to vaccinate over 45 first. If States want to vaccinate under 45, they will be given vaccines by centre after most over 45 are vaccinated. So states with smart CMs like Kejri and co along with congressis, instead of vaccinating over 45, came with idea in media that they can themselves be procuring vaccine. Centre said help yourself. Its not that centre has stopped trying to manufacture more vaccine. But its not getting into petty politics of chewt CMs. I can guarantee, most under 45 will be vaccinated by same vaccine makers who are producing for over 45 now.
