Not really, outbowled Lyon in Australia 8 months back. This isn't early/mid-2010s Jaddu. 

 

Kohli has been awful with bowler rotation, not given a long spell to Jaddu despite him providing more control than all quicks, also a few LBW shouts while our quicks were bowling nonsense. Think TM is seeing him as a specialist batsman which is a folly.

Bumrah was out of rhythm, was off color from first over itself. Jadeja actually bowled well but in these conditions, he is only a defensive option. It's the fast bowlers who are expected to take wickets. Both Shami and Bumrah were off color.

If you are playing 1 spinner, then you should select the best one. Selecting the 2nd best just because he bats is unfair. If that's the case then Jadeja should replace a batsman. Will Kohli select Shardul in place of Bumrah because he bats better?

Hope Shardul comes back next game, big problem will be solved. We can compete without Ashwin, but Thakur is a must cos he can swing the ball. 

 

Jaddu is being considered as a pure batsman I think. 

 

Remaining tests->I think we can safely go with 2 spinners only in Oval test.

just promote Jadeja into middle order and pick ashwin as a specialist spinner. 

 

we already picked four no. 11s in this match. ashwin+thakur+3 no. 11s will be a upgrade even from  a batting perspective

but Jaddu is playing as a batsman.Can't drop if hes scoring more than the guys who play.

 

Ashwin's batting dip is costing us.He's no more a no. 7

We cannot have ashwin + 4 seamers with this middle order . As simple as that. Ashwin cannot replace Jadeja in this setup, he can only replace the 4th seamer.
