Stan AF Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Another calendar year where he has scored 6 test 100s.
Stan AF Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Along with the century records, Root has amassed 5,063 runs at an average of 56.26 since the start of 2021 alone. No other batters have managed to touch 3,000 mark, with Karunaratne a distant second with 2,613 runs. En-route to this massive run accumulation, Root has become the highest scorer in fourth innings in Test history, surpassing Tendulkar's record of 1,625 runs. Root now has 1,630 runs in the fourth innings in Tests. With 1,470 runs already this year, he is also on the verge of becoming only the second batter ever to amass 1500-plus runs in a calendar year twice, a feat only Ricky Ponting has achieved, in 2003 and 2005. Root previously crossed the 1,500-run threshold in 2021 during his exceptional run of form. New guy 1
Ultimate_Game Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 If Root manages to have a decent tour of Aus, he would cement his legacy. At the moment from current gen, he's still behind Steve Smith. There were only 2 ATG players as Fab 4 was over-hyped. It was Fab 2 with Steve Smith and Root in the group.
wanted_desi Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Kohli is miles below Root when it comes to test cricket. Tier 3 batsman. Ultimate_Game and Bigg Brother 2

Kane is a HTB of the highest order, which is not a bad thing in itself. Order right now is: Stewie Smith > Root > Kane = Brat
Vijy Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Watching the ever-growing gap between Rooty-Tooty and Brat is refreshing. Hoping to see more of the same. Root is (mostly) a quiet guy who goes about contributing through his brilliant batting, effective fielding, and useful bowling (hopefully he can get close to 100 wkts at the time of retirement)

Jayawardene also has much higher avg than Kohli, doesn't make him better. BTW, to reiterate, I have opposed Brat for a long time when the situation called for it, even during his peak

I would take a weak team bully over a "no team" bully anytime.

Even Smith has not attained super-high heights in this period. In last 5 years, the order is Root > Willy > Smith >> Kohli

Williamson is in a different league to Kohli right now.

When you barely average 47 overall, you're just one of the many "good" batsmen out there who average close to what you did.

Kane and Kohli are same era
