I think Iyer doesn't throw away his wicket mostly.  He has a better game sense than Pant. At one point his scores were like 88, 65, 18, 30, 71, 65, 70, 53.  His career average is 41. Strike rate 100. Capable of big overs. Shreyas Iyer  already has 8 century partnership including a double century partnership in 21 innings. He does well with partners.

agree.. Shreyas 41 vs Pant 32..   add Pant's keeping and its almost same.. but not many talk about dropping Iyer like they scream about Pant. I like both of them to be given a long run.. plus SKY & Venky Iyer

normally sane Gaurav Kapur on cricbuzz asks about Pant missed stumping and talks about his innings as if its a flash in the pan.. its clear..some asansols definitely hate Pant

Hate watching Cricbuzz's coverage.. Somebody should call the out on their anti Pant agenda. Even on their play by play commentary they were notoriously nasty towards him.

Cricbuzz has had an agenda against Pant for a long long time. Observe their commentary. They highlight his misses, any DRS referral that goes against the team but hardly credit him for forcefully convincing the captain to take successful reviews.

Has to be something related to a deal with Benett Coleman, CB owner, falling through

Feckin hate that site...Pant probably dated the website owner's daughter or something.. No reason why they repeatedly attack him in every match and only provide faint praises when he does well

That's just him and you don't want to ever try and curb or curtail that. He will learn and work it out for himself. I say it to a lot of the guys around in the Delhi Capitals with him that you take the good with the bad, because if you try and curtail the good, then he will just become another player. He will just be the same as everybody else. And right now, he is different from most, so we feed him as much rope as he needs and let him go and play

In Australia we have plenty of neutral journalists and many will attack the Australian team and players when necessary.

Why isnt the Indian team and players attacked more often? Why is Kohli been allowed to get away with his selections and poor batting for so long?

India has a serious problem with conformity culture. Once a consensus develops, even if it's tentative at the outset, then it quickly solidifies and gets set in stone. I am obviously over-generalizing here, but writing a PhD thesis on this topic is not feasible

Thanks for that, insightful.

I dont blame the India journos, as the alternatives is being ostracized by the team which means no interviews or any information. With so many of them, none can afford to do this either.

yes, and that is what breeds comformity, because the "punishment"  - or negative reinforcement, to be more precise - ensures that these journos conform to the prevailing trend.

The problem is that punishment is likely to lead loss of income and thats massive for a journo in India.
