Reaching UAE on 15th Sep + 6 days mandatory quarantine based on UAE laws = 21st Sep

 

Remainder of IPL in UAE scheduled to start on 19th Sep.

 

The 'super-stars' would have missed 2 days of IPL - which is way more important to them than test cricket for India.

 

Beautifully explained by Sree Iyer.  Some excuse or the other would have come up any which way to abandon it.

Shastri was infected during the 4th test itself, so it is possible the players were on edge and decided that if the situation deteriorates any further, they would bail.

BCCI always had concerns with the scheduling of this Test from the beginning with IPL in mind, that's a fair point to raise. 

 

Ultimately, both boards wanted the Test to happen but the Indian players rightly asked them who will take responsibility if positive cases emerge during the game?
