Not just China, even for country like India this used data only from 2 cities Mumbai and Delhi. Do these two cities represent whole India? Hue and cry was raised because it had bigger impact. It was flawed approach yet that didn't stop govt from credit for it. It was advertised as achievement by govt and RW both. When GHI used flawed approach, govt and RW were quick to question their approach. Where was same question from govt during EoDB rankings? When it comes to govt policies, things can't be dismissed as whataboutery. Govt isn't there to do online discussions.

If you get an award or felicitation at work do you typically analyse why you may not deserve it? Versus if you are wrongly accused?

If we go by your approach only, should anyone boast about your award if it were rigged in favor of some and method as flawed? If they find it's ok to boast about rigged awards when they win it, then what about next time when they don't get another awards with flawed approach. Should they complain about approach applied there? Should they question the method there? If they do so, they will come across as petty/cheap person.
