asterix Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Chahal in place of Chahar (Leg Spin) KL in place of Shreyash Venky in place of Pandya… Wouldve performed well. No place of Kohli…
Norman Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Chahar played one game that too in a dead rubber. It'd have been the same for chahal as well as TM was high on Varun's non-existent misstree would have started in the first three games over chahal anyways.. I'm not sure what more venky could have done more than Pandya. May be gotten 15 more runs against NZ (best case) but would been inconsequential. Top4 was the one and only reason behind our abject humiliation. Not middle order or bowling.. asterix 1
ShoonyaSifar Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 (edited) Let's not make that old mistake of extrapolating a bilateral win onto a high pressure ICC league matches.. NZ only turned up, hardly showed any intensity. We should have been a bit more courageous in trying out new younger players instead of Bhuvi, Chahal and Ashwin and even Pant. vvvslaxman Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 Top heavy nature of Indian batting can neve let us win tournaments. They have to evenly distribute the batting power across the line up. Add more depth ignore one dimensional players unless they are extraodinary. 6 or 7 bowlers. 8 o 9 who can bat. India has no plan B when there is a top order collapse. Most of the current strategy revolves around how well top 3 plays which is a low percentage strategy. India should try middle heavy line up for a change. mishra and AuxiliA 2

What is indeed needed is top 3 not to be over cautious and allways assume that we are scoring 200+ in t20s and 400 in idis. Run this drill in all bilaterals till we get our batting combo right.
nevada Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 We wouldn't have lost both the tosses that mattered. So, we could have reached the semis. The scheduling was tailor-made for our success. Just look at the teams in the other group!

This is why I've advocated Brat to play at 4, or below that, in ODI tournaments especially when the ball moves! But alas he's a greedy SoB & his braindead fans no better
Lord Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 Everyone lines up to bat in the top order. Even in IPL every youngster is batting in top 3.
