Context would be super important. We had tough away tours of Australia, England. Played the No 1 team in the world at home in the last 1 year.

NZ tour was in 2020. In 2021 we played home games as well.  In 2018 Tamim Iqblal averaged 70 in NZ. Mahamadulla averaged 62. Root average 79.66. Blackwood averaged 54. Rizwan averaged 50. Sowmya sarkar avragd 49. India's best average was 25 by Agarwal.  Kohli averaged 9.50 in 4 innings.

You are making it sound like we have a minnow level batting. Yes our middle order sucks, no doubt about that. The worst among the major teams.

But the 'batting lineup' also includes the openers, wk, allrounders, tailenders. We have a good bunch of openers, the best set of test allrounders and a match winning wk batsman. The tail has shown improvement in recent times.

In terms of overall batting strength (no 1-11), only NZ and Aus are ahead of us and not by a huge margin.

Yes probably 3rd best. But at times they can be as bad as associate side. So being 3rd best means very little.  If we have a consistent batting line up we would be whitewashing all the sides.

What about the pitches then? Apart from 2-3 roads all have been real turners. How many roads does Oz produce each season, or NZ for that matter?

aussies

kiwis

no question there

talking about swing and spin. so i put them all 4 above us. sure we beat them recently in england but that was more due to our bowlers and rohit/rahul.

Anyone that ranks England batting over India needs to turn off the computer and walk away.  What a rubbish take that is.

in swing conditions. in english conditions i would say they are better at full strength with stokes, malan, root, woakes etc.

You know SS hasn't scored a hundred since 2019 Ashes, Loosebus only has hundreds in Oz, Green who & Carey :hysterical:

Again, your first statement said India was 5th best overall.

I can agree with NZ or Aus being better than us in batting. But England and Pakistan, seriously?!

England and Pakistan can only dream of batting as well as we do in Aus. No way they can be 272/3 after day 1 in SA. Even at home our HTBs bat like Bradman. Their batters don't dominate at home like ours do.

England is heavily dependant on Root. Pakistan is on Babar and Rizwan. On the other hand if we drop our star batsmen(Pujara, Kohli, Rahane), that would actually make us stronger lol, such is our bench strength.

India - Weak middle order, overall good unit with competent all rounders

Australia - ATG batsman, beast opener at home, future great in Labu

New Zealand - Most experienced and settled line up

SA - decent players, none great, could be strong in future.

Eng - One great batsman, rest all mediocre ones

Pakistan - their best batsman averages 40 in test cricket

WI - similar to England sans Root

SL - similar to England sans Root

Bangladesh - don't know where they are going

India is still the best batting line up , here's ,y ranking

1-India

2-Australia

3-NZL

4-England

5-Pakistan

6-SA

7-SL

8-WI

9-BD

10-Afghanistan

11-Ireland

12-Zimb

no way India is 1 in batting. Trimurti (nos. 3-5) have gone 88 innings without a century. how is that a good batting lineup? I'd say we are no. 3 probably
