Selectors thought they had picked the best possible team. Also, many key players were injured. Only player who shouldn't have been in the team is Bhuvi. Not many in this forum raised any eyebrows when the team was named. Dhawan has done better than others even in this tournament. Then why should we drop him?

V.Iyer did well in Vijay Hazare, Iyer did well in his debut test.

Dhawan did what??  Who wanted him?  Guy has high ratio of getting out to mediocre spinners & even when set he has tendency to throw it all away by 30th over..  No batsman gets out after being set so many times in 30th overs. 

Rahul at 5 was doing well.  Dravid dumb let him open.  Entire middle order was in shambles. 

 

Either way our batting is reasonably ok compared  to bowling.  Paarl is a tough track to chase 270+. 

Boobi Chawal Ashwin Thakur( bowler)  is a poor attack.  Minnow esque. 

No one wanted these guys.

Well, the selected team is still decent. But the team that played isn’t.

 

You have Rutraj, SKY & siraj warming the bench while Bhuvi bowls dollies, KL goes up the order to keep the opener status quo, S Iyer seems to be struggling.

That's right, I recall my post on "great job selectors" getting 24587 likes, literally everyone here was in agreement.

2)  Some criticized Deepak and Ashwin's selection.

 

3)   Many of the good selections in the squad, like Kishan, Ruturaj, SKY, Prasidh, have not played yet. Siraj is injured.

 

4)  Rahul was so great at 5 or 4. Why was he made the opener again ?

 

In a nutshell ... a half bad and half good squad selection ... with a poor playing 11 selection.

Not sure? Jayant Yadav, Ashwin , Dhawan.  Selections were criticized. I am not going to after  Venky Iyer. There are sure some over-reactions. I would back him.

Nailed it. Selectors gave a good chance to tm to pick a young xi. But tm botched it.

 

We may have still lost badly but at least would have seen which youngsters can respond well to pressure.  Now, they will play in a dead rubber ... meaningless.

Don't be sure. At best there will be a couple of changes. Expecting Dhawan, Kohli, Ashwin, Chahal to play.

to add to this, at least some criticized selection of Ex-Captain Brat as well. so, it is certainly not true that everyone was bowing to the selectors great decisions
