A oldie close to retirement Robin Uthappa has done much better in last IPL than Manish Pandey has ever done in his life.. Purely in terms of quality, Manish Pandey is no better than Saurabh Tiwary is in T20s.. but since the entire ecosystem likes to confuse formats GranduPandu still mints money even after so many years of consistent pathetic performances.. I hope I am wrong but the next Pandey is likely to be Shreyas Iyer

Uthappa was a very good IPL player overall.

Manish Pandey had his moments too, got a hundred in IPL 2009 and won his team KKR that final in IPL 2014 vs Punjab.

Iyer has led DC to their only IPL final in their history.

Manish doesn't have more than 5 impact knocks... in that 2014 final, Saha played a much better innings against better pedigree bowlers ( just see the bowling lineup of Punjab.. most of them third rate )... in 13 years of IPL he has nothing major to show

also believe me an able caoch can get teams to do well.. just how Ponting has done with DC.. Shreyas Iyer got them into final and lost captaincy soon after :giggle: tells you how he is rated on captaincy

Good that most teams have just one medium or slow pacer. Last year, only CSK and SRH had plenty. Looks like they have their lesson. Plus some of these, i.e Chahar, Harshal, Natarajan, are good.

Don't forget Arshdeep with Punjab.

I have updated the list with Arshdeep.

PK and SRH have multiple medium pacers.

You can’t put all medium pacers in one bracket on speed. That’s very myopic.

Chahar and Sandeep for example are similar in the sense that they are new ball specialists but Chahar brings  in  other utilities.

Thakur and Unadkut are used in middle overs mostly and Thakur is a few yards quicker than Unadkut. They both can bat.

Natarajan nails those Yorkers at the death. Harshal is another death specialist and I have no idea why or how he gets wickets but effective.

Its not that binary as we make it. These teams might be run by people with lesser cricket acumen than us but behind those decisions are data, numbers and other experts who know what they are doing.

You are over-complicating things.

I have not rated the medium pacers or talked about their utility in T20s in the post that you quoted.

But a medium pacer is a medium pacer just like a spinner is a spinner.

What you are saying is akin to being offended because I have called Ashwin a spinner.

Maybe I misunderstood your post so apologies than but I felt it was oversimplifying calling anyone below 140 average speed in the medium pacer category.

to me someone like Thakur or Natarajan would be RFM. Bhuvi started off as a RM, became RFM and now is in the RMF zone.

Chahar would be RMF

someone like Sandeep or Unadkut would be RM

Arshdeep to me is RMF right now but he can get to RFM.

sinilarly you can’t put someone like Lockie, Wood along with Cummins etc either because these are express bowlers.

There are a lot more layers to bowlers. Maybe you were speaking in a different context, so as I said it might be unrelated so you can see my post  as independent or add on to what you said than a counter:

A guy has won his team an IPL final and you are talking about impact then?? Pandey was very good between 2014-17 and always a great fielder. He has become awful now but that's besides the point.

Did not go into so much categorization. And considered just current ability and not past ones.

All these pacers are either medium or medium-fast ... roughly categorized as medium pacers.

(  Shardul used to be fast medium till 2019 but has lost a lot of pace and fitness .... and Natarajan is not Fast-medium and never was )

Whereas Fast or Fast-medium or Express pacers are roughly categorized as quick bowlers.

How the hell do you get unfit as a player. A professional player? How?

I an disappointed in thakurs fitness. Is it covid reasons? I hope so?

The whiteys always make time for fitness. They stay in shape year round. Our phuckers have too much money and support. They are content.

Ironical that Dad's army has the most number of "fast" bowlers.. That said none of them will be in the playing XI
