Best spin bashers in India.

The current Indian line up is horrible against spin.

Back in the day not only did we have good players of spin but we had spin bashers. Guys who would see a spinner be it Warne/Murali or Carl Hooper type parttimer, and treat them the same way.

Players who can qualify as spin bashers: Siddhu, Sehwag, Yusuf Pathan,Raina etc.

in IPL I would say

Rayudu

Rana

Hardik Pandya

Iyer

anyone else?

Rana is another guy. Underrated against spin. He is terrible against everything else but man the guy plays 360 vs spin. That’s the reason for his long IPL career too.

SKY I can’t tell. He uses his feet very well but I have seen getting out to spin trying too much many times.

Yes

i think ur confusing him with rahul tripathi, rahul is the one who bashes spin whereas nitish rana has horrible matchups against leg spin. Their was a time in IPL where he was dismissed by leggies around 9-11 times in a span of 15-16 games which is when KKR decided to send him to open. Although Rana is one of the rare lefties who is very good against off spin but strangely he struggles against leggies

Current bashers

  • Pant
  • Pandya (has only been troubled by rashid khan who basically troubles most batsman)
  • Samad (reincarnation of yusuf with much better batting ability against pace)
  • Rahul tripathi
  • Rayudu
  • Iyer (also has issues against spin bowled at pace above 90kph but rest he doesn very well)
  • SKY (guy who goes under radar, destroys wrist spin )
  • Mayank Aggarwal
  • SRK (till now no problem against spin has been identified)

I get the 2 confused all the time- Tripathi and Rana but I did see a Rana knock where he destroyed Rashid Khan. Pretty sure it was him unless it was Tripathi.

And for pace? Best against pace?

I would say Gill and maybe rohit? Sundar looks comfortable too.

Most of the current players hit and hope, there is no skill behind it, more to do with brute force.

I would say there are some players to lookout for against spin but not convincing enough:

P Shaw

S Gill

S Iyer

R Pant

I Kishan

^ I forgot Kishen. Master spin basher. Somehow he reminds me of Raina (in a good way)

Not sure how good he is against short pitch.

Current Generation is the Shadow of the past generation when it comes to playing spin. We have no one who is an out and out Spin Killer, like Sehwag or Ganguly.

The names mentioned above by some posters are decent at best, almost everyone have a chink in the armour. Hardik Pandya is the closest we got to a spin Basher but the guy has faded away as a cricketer and not worth mentioning.

Pant and SKY are the best among current lot.. Why are people putting in Iyer? The guy is a finger spin basher, struggles against Wrist spin. Same with Rana

Nope

against right arm off spin his s/r is 99 in t20

Left arm orthodox spin - 129

so definitely not a basher . Ishan Kishen has also his limitations

genuine pace

Rohit, Kohli , KL are 3 best players of pace in this country

in t20 hard lengths at high are generally used in middle to last over where guys like Pollard, pandya, russell, maxi , marsh all struggle but this is where all 3 are freak specially kohli. Kohli is the best against hard length at high pace which is why his s/r is among top 5 in world when it comes to 15-20 overs. KL has the most range against pace and  Rohit has that extra 2nd against pace so he hardly is bothered by pace. Its the moving ball which creates problem for them but that wud to anyone in world

Warne one of the greatest bowlers and spin bowlers of all time has stated how SRT gave him "nightmares" when he destroyed him.

In IPL, Sanju Samson can be added to the list. Potential candidates are Samad and Shahrukh.
