Only two substantively longish innings. Other than hitting 2 slot balls from odean his performance doesn't really warrant any selection. He had an epic flop SMAT season too.  Poor 2021 IPL season too. Strike rate of 107. This is no different from Saha clicking in a few matches. It is a fairytale story in the IPL. But at the international level limited batsman like him will be worked over.

Im sure Ganguly has influenced the selection(as he loved his performance)

What's this fascination with one too many trundlers,what is this hallucination that they bring control?

This series will make one thing clear,ie these trundlers(no swing ,only cheap cutters) have a ceiling called IPL

Finishers arent required to play long innings. His SR is 148 this season and under pressure hes been calm. Most wont hit even slot balls in that sitation

Barring Arshdeep & Umran no debuts. What's the point of Rahul & Pant playing those two T20s in Ireland over the warm up game?

Like always the selectors play the safe card and select teams on past rep than current performance, harshal and bhuvi in the same team is a recipe for diaster, on top arshdeep in the squad, you have harshal for the middle and death overs so whats the point of arshdeep. Bhuvi gets in but their are already three Bette new ball bowlers than him in the ipl. Prasidh ahead of bhuvi and Mohsin/khaleel for avesh would be a perfect attack.

Shashank singh on his debut match made 25 runs in 6 balls that too against Lokie Ferguson.

Agree. Too many changeup bowlers. No bowlers with varied skills to cover each other in case pitch suits certain type of bowler.

V Iyer is lucky to be included. Probably due to his last few international matches.  If Rohit goes out RUturaj will be the one taking his place. Not Prithvi Shaw.  Ashwin's pipedream of travelling to Australia is not going to be realized. Glad they are backing the right spinners. All 4 of them deserved.

He was a no show in many matches last season. At wankhede and braborne with beautiful conditions and bad bowlers he capitalized on it. So i won't give any weightage beyond IPL.  Just set a third man and bowl a bouncer he will promptly edge to the sky.  He has been found out many times.  Two cameos won't change that opinion that easily. In the early part batting was easier while chasing.

1 or 2 cameos over 3 seasons cannot be the reason you pick someone. Why couldn't he replicate at a lower level in the domestic?  Atleast guys like Iyer/Ruturaj had mega domestic season in some formats.  If you are going to back someone for cameos DK  is your guy. Not this guy. Pant himself is already a cameo guy. We cannot have another cameo guy with limited hitting range.

Prasidh is in the test squad.  I hope he gets to play ahead of Siraj.
