Why are we trying to bring back Trundler Culture in Indian cricket again  ??  Our pace bowling revolution started with the pace and bounce of Bumrah and Shami.and the height of Ishant.

Cant believe most icfers are still defending the trundler Arshdeep.  Citing reasons such as youth, talent, left armer bla bla. His bowling is looking little better as his partner bhuvi is much worse.  A trundler is a trundler at the end of the day.  He will be useless on pitches which offer no swing.  Got exposed in every KO game he has played till now.   Viz: Wicketless in Asia Cup game vs SL (virtual KO game), Wicketless today as well ( KO game).  Most pitches these days offer no swing. Perth was an exception. So, he took wickets on that helpful surface.  Who cares how many wickets he took against minnows Zim, Bangladesh, Neth?    I would rather lose with players like Siraj who can bowl 140+ consistently.   It's high time, we move away from trundler culture.

Arshdeep should be picked only if there is swing on offer with the new ball.

He looks innocuous without swing and his death bowling has gone down.

But he is picked for ODIs now where the ball won't swing for 8 out of 10 overs. He may do ok in bilateral ODIs but will be a weak point in big ODIs.

shouldn't be picked in most formats. khaleel and mohsin did better than him in IPL, although that's a rather poor tournament

Arsdeep was the best Indian bowler in this WC. For a rookie, he took wickets against every single team, removed the opners against Pakistan, and South Africa took De cock and the dangerous roussseau. In the SF, got just one over in the powerplay and then the second in the 10th over or so after both openers had already taken the game away.  He far exceeded the expectations and defintitely carried this bowling.  He would be the last person in this squad to be blamed.  For a rookie, put straight into the WC, this was a great outing.

1.  All the pacers in the Asian Games squad are medium pacers .... Mukesh Kumar, Mavi, Arshdeep, Avesh .... @Lone Wolf pointed this out just now.

2.  The 2nd and 3rd pacers in the 1st test playing 11 are medium pacers ... Unadkat and Shardul. Don't remember the last time it happened.  Shardul had always played as the 4th pacer earlier.

3.  Mukesh Kumar is suddenly being treated as indispensable without playing a single game for India ... he is in our test squad, ODI squad, T20I squad and Asian Games squad despite having poor IPL and List A stats.  What is happening here ????

4.  Unadkat is back in both the ODI and test teams.

5.  Hearing that the TM are thinking about Bhuvi for the 2023 World Cup, as replacement for Bumrah, because of his eggsperience.

Mukesh Kumar is Ganguly quota, Undadkat is Saurashtra/Gujarat quota

Boobi is Dravid quota due to lots of psuedo swing potential and sexperience

Not Bhuvi please.....  BCCI has gone nuts I think.

Also feels like they would likely play on turning tracks in WC as part of Dravid's phattu strategy.

Mukesh Kumar getting chances everywhere is giving lobby & parchi vibes.  Guy hasn't played a single game but yet he finds himself in almost every squad.

It's sad that likes of Kartik Tyagi are forgotten & even likes of Ian Bishop are surprised that wth are India doing with him?

On top of it the very over rated Arshadeep will be in reserve

No Harshit, no Sen ,no Umran(can be smartly used)

In less than 2 years, Dravid - Rohit - Chetan combo have completely destroyed the fast bowling culture that was developed by Kohli -Arun in the 2015 - 2021 period.

Not only are most of the new entrants medium pacers but the existing quicks aren't bowling at their earlier top speeds either. The bowling culture has become bowling line and length at reduced pace now.

The day is not far away when Unadkat, Mukesh and Shardul will be our test match pace attack. And what a change it will be from fiery Bumrah, Shami and Ishant of 2018.

It seems like unless they have no choice the brief is to reward domestic veterans who are past 30 in recognition for their services none of whom are the sort who can make a real difference to our attack. It is only these emerging tournaments that the likes of Rana will get a go. We need around 10 pacers or so for depth yet still even among those picked there is a visible pecking order on who the next cab off the rank will be.

Something also has to be said for the complete lack of succession planning that is pervading Indian cricket at all levels and in all parts of the team that they allow a vacuum to develop and then hastily fill it with the 'safe option' as discussed above instead of showing any vision and the desire to make that vision a reality.

It's really dissapointing, I mean I can understand why Arshdeep is included..but it's baffling to me on what basis Mukesh, Mavi and Avesh got in the squad. None of them are good enough T20 bowlers..atleast Mavi can bat and is a very good fielder..but Avesh and Mukesh are handicapped in those departments as well.

I really feel for our next gen pacers who bend their backs on our unresponsive pitches only to get rejected by the selection committee because they don't understand fast bowling. I thought Ganguly and Agarkar would be different but so far even they have done nothing. Even the commentators in domestics keep on talking positively about spinners and line length trundlers but no praising comments for the quicks.

This trundler obsession has become a poison which is drowning our cricket at all levels.

Sadly this is proof that talent alone doesn't mean much.

India has plenty of players with great athletic potential to do well in a lot of sports. But we won't touch true greatness because our bias towards seniority, lack of sports culture in school systems and lack of support in general with nutrition etc will always inhibit us unless something drastically changes radically.
