Kudos to her and the Indian W team , did everything possible to win and found an alternative way .one thing for sure ,the women's team care about winning and losing as they play with passion for their national side unlike our men's team who giggle and chuckle after losing finals !

Why is this even a thing?

Why can't icc make a rule to prevent this. Everytime the non striker's bat leaves the crease before the ball is bowled...the run should be considered 'short' and not counted.Make it the third umpire's job .

This whole spirit of game discussion is nonsense here. spirit of the game says to respect the laws, accept when things don't go your way, here it is used to justify the opposite.

 

When the laws of the game clearly state this is legitimate way to get some one out, it is the responsibility of the batter to be prepared for it. To use the fact you weren't prepared to shame the better prepared person in the name of spirit of the game is actually against the spirit of the game.

I think it is made to look bad because it is English. I don't think this would have been controversial if all these guys like Piers morgan and other ilks had shut their mouth. Apparently she was doing it for quiet a while. May be that is how this partnership was even developed.

Maybe Deepti saw Dean leaving the crease regularly and decided she would pick her moment to dismiss her. Had she warned Dean she would simply stop. Deepti's morality stems from noting the repeated breach and then making Dean pay later should it be required.

as it should be, Walsh's misplaced sense of morality became an unwritten moral code when it is just another way of taking a wicket looked down upon because this precedent.
