Time IPL teams started looking at some associate team players  as well. Some hidden gems there. I think David Weise plays/ has played in the IPL before.

Tim David played all leagues including PSL before IPL scouted him.

IPL seems too focused on big names or teams like Aus and SA. There is lot more talent out there. Good to see.

This Sikandar Raza used to be a Pujara type player but he has reinvented himself and seen him perform or play some incredible knocks and even bowl well against good teams as well. There are a lot more out there.

IPL should allow playing 5 OS players in 11 as not only now there are 10 teams (expected to be a max of 12 in future) but also it allows the franchises to rotate/rest Indian players

At least, they should allow 5 OS players in the half the games for a start.. That way, they can test the impact of 5 OS players vs 4.

We might see “impact” player rule applicable to Indian players in this IPL.

That will discourage domestics to produce ARs even further..if its going to be pushed by ICC later than thats one way of dealing with lack of good ARs by BCCI lol

I think it is time to view IPL as the global T20 league tournament rather than something where players are on “trial”.  One has to be “developed” to be seen among the top IPL players. Almost 3 months in a year are devoted to IPL with OS players even  skipping national duties.

Because of its competitive nature (including IPL auction where a players worth is evaluated every year) and relatively high accountability requirements, players tend to give their best (even more than for their national teams apart from the world cups).

A good AR will make his mark (and therefore be valued), and there are domestic tournaments as well for them too make a mark.

Impact rule is seen in other leagues as well if I am not wrong (BCCI is not an innovator in general so likely to be “inspired”). It was tried in one of the domestic tournaments as well iirc.

I kinda agree with you..but due to lack of vision and existence of politics in domestic structure..atleast IPL scouting can give hopes to young players..

infact TNPL,KPLs etc can help in scouting and giving opportunities to promising players..

yep, any quality tournament can be used for scouting ... IPL uses international cricket for scouting for e.g., international teams use tournaments like IPL, and so on

IPL teams tend to be stronger than many national teams

MI has released almost all the prominent players they had bought in the auction.

Released players:

Kieron Pollard, Anmolpreet Singh, Aryan Juyal, Basil Thampi, Daniel Sams, Fabian Allen, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Markande, Murugan Ashwin, Rahul Buddhi, Riley Meredith, Sanjay Yadav, and Tymal Mills

MI had the worst auction. Nobody knew what they were trying to achieve. They let go all the good players sleeping in the auction and then bought filler players at the last moment having spent heavily on one or two players.
