In case of equal trophies, priority based on order as World Cup > WTC= WT20 > CT.

India could have had 10 trophies if they did not lose the following:

2000 CT (ODI)

2003 WC (ODI)

2014 WC (T20)

2017 CT (ODI)

2021 WTC (TEST)

Some of these defeats should have been avoidable.

B&H World Series in 1985 is literally a WC/ICC event. Add it to India's count.  What did Aus win in 2009?

Can we add the ICC Test Championship maces we have won since before 2021 to this list?

If talking about ICC WC, CT does not need to be included ... In the 80s, there were special events like 1985 World Series in Aus and 1989 Nehru Cup in Ind.

Tough to consider them. They were just individual events and no subsequent series of that was followed.

New Zealand won their both ICC titles against India, quite shocking really as NZ are chockers also along with SA and India to some extent.

Ind titles have mainly come from beating Pak and SL:

1985 beat Pak

2002 shared w/ SL

2007 beat Pak

2011 beat SL

Aus won Champions Trophy in 2009.

Trophies are different from yearly won Test maces based on ICC rankings.

India, Pakistan and South Africa have under achieved massively. Former two with a huge talent pool and South Africa with that pseudo-Australian quality of producing dozens of world class players should have won much much more.

Up to you! (on a different thread someone could consider them too) ... I would rate such all major teams marquee events > CT

2002 was a shared on between India and SL.

1983- Beat Windies

2013- Beat England

But CT is a tournament which started 22 years ago and it takes place every 4 years.

Anyways, you can ignore that and that ranking will still remain the same.

Aus > WI > IND > SL = Pak > Eng > NZ.

In the 80s, these marquee events were considered almost as prestigious as world cups ... One was won by Ind, the other by Pak

CT is relatively a lower tier tournament though

We definitely should have won the 2000 CT if it wasn’t for Chris cairns.
2014 WC as well should have won.
heck 2017 CT should have won as well but who knows.

2021 WTC at the very least with so much rain it should Have been a draw.

How? The love and appreciation we get for 1983 World Cup is completely unmatchable while a lot of casual fans would probably not even know or remember the 1985 World Series win that fondly.

What has casual fans remembering something or not got to do with the value of events?

For e.g. no causal fan would remember WI winning CT in 2004 or SA in 1998 (Ppl still perceive SA has not won any "ICC").

You would need to read on those events to understand their importance. Those were special events celebrating certain anniversaries  and where all major teams participated. World Championship of Cricket celebrated 150 years of European settlement in Aus (or something like that) while Nehru Cup celebrated Nehru's 100th birth anniversary (therefore, designed to be unique marquee events)
