Ashwin was pivotal in yesterday's win by this I mean a bowler that can bat down the order, as our bowlers are sitting ducks while batting.  Bare with me with this, if we had Arshdeep or Chahal to score those winning runs we would have lost.

 

India must assume again that our top order will crumble and we need the middle order and the all rounders to score the runs.

This team is still shameless, it should make one or two changes IMO, with Pant in for Karthik and Axar out possibly for Chahal.

Do you think they will make changes? I think they will definitely stick to the same team, possibly dropping Axar as that was a total bust in both batting and bowling.

I strongly want Pant for Karthick. 

 

It won't be possible to replace Axar with Chahal as Axar is batting in the top 7 and Chahal can't.

Thanks, yes I agree with this.

 

However, if we need Axar to bat for us against the Nederlands we wont win the WC.

We should be winning this with our top 6 batsmen hence a lesser of a need to have Axar, Chahal should play IMO. However, I do agree against teams like SA, Banga we need Axar for that security.

Though I find DK not so reliable in pressure situations but I also agree that the way he has modeled his game now..playing risky cricket lower down when few balls are remaining..there will be days he will miss but he will hit on some days too..

I will prefer Pant to open only..I hv been his supporter but currently I feel he is not in right frame of mind..after these stupid off field distractions etc.so middle order is not good spot for him..for now..

Difficult to slot him as an opener in a WC without trying this role out earlier for quite a few games. I think he was used as an opener in 2 games only.

DK is their to cover to pandya weakness of hard length and at that slot u will come off mostly twice in 10 games

Pant bats up and yet has been a no show in t20i, i have backed pant but ill want him in place of KL at right time which will come

Replace Ash with  Chahal, latter is a better wicket taking option against minnows and we won't need batting depth. Ashwin can come back in Perth. Aim must be to boost up our NRR, our game against RSA is in Perth, RSA vs Pak is in SCG, high chance that we will have a Mexican standoff, so NRR is vital. In fact I prefer Chahal against all these minnow teams.

SA Zim no show has changed the equation now. We need to beat Ned, BD and Zim and need not depend on a win sgaSA. If our matches get rained out, then it changes

I am not able to make up my mind on Axar..as seen against SA and now here..he is leaking runs..and plentiful..he batted well against WI etc but can he bat well in Aus against good sides..so Question marks are still there..

Agreed even I am not certain how he will do as an opener too..but its mostly because it didnt seem he is currently happy with whatever is going on..

he is that kind of person who will do well at any position if he is in good frame of mind..which he is currently not..

Fair point..Do you think in future..Patidar can play well against hard length and we can make KL/Pant as keeper

I want to see patidar more, real test always starts when teams have more info on u which wud be the case in next season. Its just not hard lengths its other bowling too , next wc isnt in aus so demands wud be different

Not J/K but Kela and DK  should play against the minnows, both are great minnows bashers, it will be a booster for the Nrr.

Also axar can bully them with his straighter one
