I don't know about others but I feel that if we don't put up a solid performance in this t20wc. we will find it even more difficult in next year's ODI wc.

No matter how this tournament ends, the core of the team will be the same bunch of suspects. The only surprise could be Birat back as captain with an injury prone Rohit out with another injury.

Rohit is done. He will definitely be gone after the 2023 wc. So will Ashwi, DK and Shami.

KL, Kohli and Bhuvi are going absolutely nowhere lol. They will play at least until the 2025 champions Trophy and maybe even the 2027 wc.

My bet for the best pacers in short format are Jaspreet, Arshdeep  & Mohsin Khan based on skillsets we have seen so far.  But the big worry - Can Mohsin maintain same pace & bounce post Surgery ? Fingers crossed .

Tyagi is highly skilful too.

Has every delivery needed in white ball cricket.

Yes . Tools are there  but not ready. Among Arsh & Mohsin , Tyagi  has least control. For me he is another 2 seasons away , Guy hardly played matches . Would like to see him in test matches than T20 first . Not sure get a feel Mohsin may not be able to TAKE  physical stress of test cricket. Hope i am wrong

Mohsin does not have the fitness for test cricket yet

I feel that if Tyagi gets to play 10 T20s, he maybe almosf ready.

Saying this because I really liked how he was bowling in SMAT 2022.

if you wanna pick a team for next Wc please keep conditions in mind, dont take anyone name

Next Wc will be in WI and it mostly can be a 160 run avg wc where few games will go very low score and few high but avg wud be 160 which can go down as tournament progress .

  • Need player who can adjust to slow wkts - like iyer (whom im never been  fan of but its all about conditions)
  • Need batting depth since it comes in very handy in low total games- sundar, axar, thakur, chahar becomes important
  • Variation becomes more important in WI

Dont pick guys like Kishen unless he shows ability to adapt to different pitches, WI slow pitches will challenge his kind of style. Keep a check on his improvement not just random big innings that comes on belters coz that wud be meaning less

2023 WC India

2024 CT Pak and T20 WC WI

2026 T20 WC Lanka

2-3 Asia Cups in between

Many may not rate him, but we need someone like Shreyas Iyer in the MO, easily our MVP on turning as well as double paced pitches. Watching our current guys play spin on Aussie pitches is giving me migraine, things will be much worse in SC and WI.

For WI conditions iyer wud be my pick . U need guys that can adjust to those pitches and have game for 140-160 totals .

His odi spot in 15 is sealed for 2023 wc

Exactly.

Have other posters not learnt anything over the years?

I fully expect Kohli, SKY and Boobi to be trying to be a part of the next WC.

Hell if Hitman scores big in the last two games, even he will put up his hand to be a part of the next WC.

1. Gill / Jaiswal / Dhull

2. Shaw / Samson / Prabhsimran

3. Kohli / Samson

4. SKY / Rahul ( only if he bats at a high S/R )

5. Pant / Kishan

6. Hardik / Washington / Bawa

7. Jadeja / Shahbaz / Axar

8. Mohsin / Deepak C / Hangargekar

9. Kuldeep Y / Bishnoi

10. Bumrah / Arshdeep / Siraj

11. Umran / Tyagi / Sen

1.  Solid opener with good S/R

2.  High S/R opener

3.  Batter who can switch gears based on situation.

4.  High S/R batter

5.  High S/R keeper

6.  Batting allrounder

7.  Spin allrounder

8.  Pace allrounder

9.  Wrist spinner

10. Skilful pacer preferably quick

11. Quick pacer with T20 skills

....  Team should not look to play more than 1 swing bowler. If Arshdeep is playing then play Mohsin at 8.  If Deepak is playing then play Bumrah or Siraj at 10.

....  Pacers should be chosen so that all phases are covered.  Bumran, Arshdeep, Mohsin and Siraj can bowl both upfront and at the death.

Very good selection..depending upon the surfaces we may go with 4 pacers + 2 spinners or 3 pacers+ 3 spinners..including Allrounders

SKY has a strong case for next WC since he scores quite consistently at high SR. boobi should not have played even this WC. credit to kohli, he has done well (albeit still a bit slow) despite my skepticism; however, by next WC he will be too old.

@express bowling - good choices. my comments below on the aspects they need to work on, or aspects that need to be figured out before one can judge them.

1. gill - currently lacks extra gear to score/chase 180-200 targets

2. jasiwal - lacks ability to rotate strike; all or nothing type of batting

3. dhull - same as gill, but a bit slower

4. shaw - moving ball + short ball issues

5. samson - needs to be more judicious in shot selection (has ability vs both pace and spin)

6. prabhsimran - a hack

7. kohli - probably not going to be around for next WC; if he is there, his SR could be an issue

8. SKY - has all the skills, just needs to execute them even in high pressure games

9. rahul - issues vs left arm pace + inconsistency + gets bogged down + mentally up-and-down

10. pant & kishan - clear weaknesses vs some types of bowling + minimal strike rotation ability

11. hardik - batting is getting more limited; fitness issues

12. washington - glass body + not fast enough scorer with bat

13. Bawa - unknown quantity

14. jaddu - injury prone, too 1D with ball and bat

15. shahbaz - deserves more of a look-in, but batting and bowling are both shade under int'l class

16. axar - too 1D in terms of bowling + batting only comes off on certain flat/low pitches

17. moshin - mostly unproven + should not bat anywhere above 9 or 10

18. deepak c - injury prone, too much oriented toward PP

19. hangu - unknown quantity

20. kuldeep - mentally suspect + too slow (gives players time to tonk)

21. bishnoi - good temperament, but overreliance on googly and no proper leg break

22. bumrah - injury prone + tends to bowl within himself occasionally

23. arshdeep - promising so far, but needs to continue work on middle overs + fielding

24. siraj - inconsistent + injury prone + not well-suited for some phases

25. umran - currently raw with lots of promise, needs to figure out a line/length that work for him

26. tyagi - lot of promise, but currently underutilized and untested

27. sen - not as promising as umran and tyagi

Next Wc in WI will be a 160 Wc so gill-ruturaj wont have much problem

Agree in general gill game isnt at a level that u can pick him in t20, at this point his game is much suited for 160 kind of totals .

But i think its best to pick a side keeping conditions of next WC in mind. That shud be focus for t20 selections
