Give it another month- Rohit and Kohli will drop out of the top 10...

 

The biggest cricketing nation and richest cricket board but:

 

- Only two batsmen in top 10 test rankings

- 2 bowlers in top 10 test rankings

- these two in top 10 ODI rankings batting

- NO bowlers in Top 10 ODI

- ONE batsman in T20i Top 10

- NO bowlers in T20i Top 10

 

So much for a 'cricketing nation'

These ICC rankings are severely lagging indicators - In reality the performance of some these guys is even worse.

Ditto.  So experienced players finding themselves at the bottom means, they suck off the charts. Once Gill starts scoring runs against bigger teams he will move up ahead of these guys

Jadeja and Pant are the only 2 good batsmen in Tests.  Others are inconsistent even at their supposedly peak phase

Mayank was better suited to be a white ball bat than a test bat.  Its a testament to his temperament that he somehow found a way to be a contributor in tests, even if short-lived.    I know he didn't do that well, but I respect guys who work their *ss off and find ways to make it to the national team.

Thats why TM and BCCI dont like giving him the opportunities.

Its only when Hitman and Kohli are in wheelchairs when Gill takes over.

Looks like the Lower-middle order batters, from 5 onwards, don't really go high on the ranking charts unless they play selfishly and remain not out.
