deepdynamo Posted January 24 Share Posted January 24 Rahul Dravid has repeatedly said recently that a pool of 20 players has been finalized and no one outside of this group will get any chances in ODI in world cup year. After these 6 ODI ( which we sweeped 6-0), we have clear idea of the 20 final players who will get opportunity in remaining 12-15 ODIs this year. This also means that 1 ) End of the road of oldies brigade - Dhawan, Ashwin, Bhuvi ( welcome relief) 2) No further new players will be tried. So No room for Shaw, Patidar, Shahbaz, Bishnoi, Arshdeep or kuldeep Sen. 3) Pant will be huge miss but he is not expected to recover on time. 4) The curious case of Deepak Chahar - I believe TM has given up on Deepak Chahar's fitness despite him being one of Rahul Dravid favourite. The 20 players pool : Gill Rohit kohli Iyer Rahul Sky Ishan Samson Pandya Jadeja ( Recovered from injury ) Washington Axar Shardul Kuldeep Yuzi Chahal Bumrah ( currently injured ) Siraj Shami Umran Prasidh ( currently injured ) Majestic 1 Link to comment

One of them should be dropped for another pacer (i.e. Kuldeep/Arshdeep) or a spinner (Bishnoi). I also think Samson is not a lock in at the moment, he's competing with Hooda. Link to comment

This is a 20 player pool so backup are necessary. Axar is a backup for Jadeja so warrant a place in this 20 player pool considering he is playing ODI regularly in his absence. Shahbaz is no way near in scheme of things at the moment. Samson is the last of the backup batsman. He is not expected to make the final 15 squad. But he is definitely ahead of Hooda. Hooda is getting consideration only for T20s now as he is not being selected in ODIS despite of many injuries in ODI squad. Link to comment

Imagine finalising Chahal in their final 20 players when there are player 1000 times better than him toiling in domestics. Joke literally. It's like open "* you" to all the domestic performers... Kuldeep may start in group games but there will be one game where he will go for plenty, happens to all in modern ODIs irrespective of whether it is Rashid or Zampa. That will be the window for this corrupt TM to permanently shut the door on his face and play Chahal for rest of the tournament. You can mark this post, if we go to SF, 100% Chahal will play and not Kuly. Saw that in 2019 WC as well where he singlehandedly cost us the game with his **** bowling, mind you Kuldeep had the match up advantage there and had destroyed NZ in NZ just a few months prior to that.
