Mariyam Posted April 10, 2023 Share Posted April 10, 2023 Its very clear, at least to the smart ones like me, that to offset the advantage the impact player brings to a side, the IPL has instituted informally the concept of " handicap player(s)". Now let me explain, what exactly a handicap player is: A handicap player is one who i) plays in all games that involve his IPL side, subject to his fitness ii) the net contribution of the handicap player is that he takes his own team closer to defeat. ii) Most team which win, win despite of their handicap player. I am going to list down the teams and their handicap players. Feel free to add your own to the list: : Rohit Sharma Gujarat Titans: Yash Dayal Lucknow Supernova or whatever they are called: KL Rahul, naam to suna hi hoga Rajasthan Royals: Chahal : Kohli Delhi Capitals: David 'Pushpa' Warner Punjab: Don't know don't care. However Preity Zintabad. : Can't think of a handicap. These players (Rohit, Kohli, KL, etc.) are like legacy ports on a new laptop. The impact player, who can't be an overseas player, is one of those four. He can be brought in whenever the team management/captain chooses. I know he took some wickets today, but in general he comes across as the type who'd get hit all over the park and pick up a meaningless wicket or two in his final over.
