Hidden rule of IPL 2023

Its very clear, at least to the smart ones like me, that to offset the advantage the impact player brings to a side, the IPL has instituted informally the concept of " handicap player(s)".

Now let me explain, what exactly a handicap player is:

A handicap player is one who

i) plays in all games that involve his IPL side, subject to his fitness

ii) the net contribution of the handicap player is that he takes his own team closer to defeat.

ii) Most team which win, win despite of their handicap player.

I am going to list down the teams and their handicap players. Feel free to add your own to the list:

:mi: : Rohit Sharma

Gujarat Titans: Yash Dayal

Lucknow Supernova or whatever they are called: KL Rahul, naam to suna hi hoga

Rajasthan Royals: Chahal

:rcb:: Kohli

Delhi Capitals: David 'Pushpa' Warner

Punjab: Don't know don't care. However Preity Zintabad.

:kkr:: Can't think of a handicap.

Sundowner Hydra-bad: Bhuvaneshwar Kumar

CSK: Ravindra Jadeja

Last yr, MI even had Pollard and CSK had Bravo. In 2021, Gayle was with PK.

These players (Rohit, Kohli, KL, etc.) are like legacy ports on a new laptop. Teams needs to be like Apple and have only the latest ports (USB C) on their laptops

I want to laugh, but its extremely distressing that our team management can't see through the fact that we haven't given fresh blood any ODI experience and want to carry on the handicaps into a WC at home.

I would be happy with a semi final exit and a win against Pakistan. Don't think we will win the entire thing.

Somebody explain what impact player concept is.. lazy and biji

In a nutshell,

Each side can keep 4 substitutes. The impact player, who can't be an overseas player, is one of those four. He can be brought in whenever the team management/captain chooses. The person who goes out will then play no role in the game. Not even as a fielder.

Didn’t we have such a thing in ODIs a while back and was junked. Stupid Americanization of jolly old cricket. :wall:
