Sandz Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Currently it is pissing down like Carling in English pubs, first session will be wiped out.

LordPrabhzy Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 (edited) first session will be washed out- hopefully there should be play after Lunch. With damp and cloudy conditions Broady and Andu should be lethal. This is giving me 2005 Edgbaston vibes. If Eng manage to win then Stokes will be hailed as a great captain. PS-It is the longest day of the year today so theoretically they could play till 7/7.30PM Edited June 20, 2023 by LordPrabhzy

putrevus Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Even on this flat pitch, chasing 4th innings total is not easy. Indian seamers lead by Bumrah let three tests and two away series wins with their inept bowling.

Sadly real problem was lack of height. We needed ishant type bowler to support bumrah and shami. Or atleast boob who quit tests. Wasn't to be. We dint select tall bowlers instead we went with umesh.
vvvslaxman Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 If the time left is short Australia can take a stab at it. If it doesn't go the way they wanted they can shut off the chase and go for a draw.
vvvslaxman Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Boland should throw kitchen sink and add 20 odd runs. That will leave around 100 plus for Head/khawaja/Carey. Cummins can bat a bit. Easier said than done. But there is an outside chance for Australia to go after it. Let us see how their mentality is.
zen Posted June 20, 2023 Author Posted June 20, 2023 Eng's interesting declaration on Day 1 is helping the test stay alive for a win/loss result despite a session or so lost to rain! "1:05pm: Inspection happens in 15 minutes, lunch will officially end in five.. I'll grab something myself. For continued entertainment till Bazbowl/Ronball takes over, it's back to Alan Gardner."
vvvslaxman Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 If Australia wants to make a statement they should go after Root and Moeen. Having said that ENgland won't even need them given the conditions.
